I was convinced by WellsFargo to sign up for this account several years ago and I haven't had any issues with it. I don't end up paying fees and the website and app are really easy to use. The app actually keeps getting better. I use the bill pay portion and Money Map quite often, which I feel helps me manage my money and understand how I'm spending my money. The branches are also very convenient for the few times I have to go in. I would give more than 4 stars, but the interest pay out is pretty pitiful. After hearing what other people I know go through with their banks I'm still very happy with my account overall.
Liberty Mutual has been my insurance company since I started driving. I've had the misfortune of being rear ended twice during my time, and each time the claims process was extremely easy. I have never had difficulty getting through to an actual agent-changing my information and cars is super easy. I also love that they auto-deduct my premium from my account each month. The statements we get from them are super easy to understand and I don't ever feel like I get the runaround or that they aren't on my side when bad things happen.
I have been banking with OCC since college (Over 10 years). I've had a Remarkable Checking account with them and to this day I have not found a better interest rate on a checking account. When I first opened my account you could yield 6%-that's insane! Today you still get 1.35% interest and all you have to do is use the card, deposit money and off you go. They even send an email in the middle of the month to let you know how you're doing toward meeting the requirements. Over the years their online system has also improved greatly. I feel like they take my personal information and its security very seriously. Their customer service is also amazing. Even though I live nowhere close to a branch anymore I'm not leaving them anytime soon-they make it really easy to stay a member. My only minor complaint is the amount of time it take to transfer money to this account from my other, non OCC bank account. Other than that I really can't complain.
If I could rate this card it would really be a 3.5 stars. This is the only store card I own and I got it before I got married. Pros: You do get to use it on occasion to earn an additional discount, which for someone like me who is awful at using coupons is great. I also like the Star Rewards coupons I get every quarter, because they can help you save some real money. I also had a package stolen off of my front porch around Christmas time and they were excellent about refunding me the money and offering to help ship a new item, which was great. Cons: The times you get to use an actual discount by using the card are very few. This is also the only card I've made late payments on because they aren't good at letting you know when your payment is due (I do paperless), how much you currently owe is something you have to dig around for in their website, and it's not easy to see when your billing cycle is. Compared to my Chase cards, for which I also do paperless, their system is not intuitive and the amount of button clicking you have to do to find basic info, frankly is frustrating. Speaking of getting married, changing my name on my card was a hassle. Tips for them: Streamline your customer service requests and make for easier navigation in your Macy's account would make this a 5 star card.
