No credit card needed
I've been using the Macy's card for two years, basically for purchases in the Macy's stores and online shopping. It's good for getting extra discounts and special offers - love them, sometimes the savings are incredible! What's not cool is their the web interface for credit card pages. First of all, it takes a lot of clicks to get to the billing page. Second, the navigation is so confusing - why put 'Apply today' if you're already applied to the card? Moreover, they run an overlay ad while you're on the billing page - sooo distracting. In overall, having a Macy's credit card could save you a lot of money if you're frequent Macy's shopper.
I like their bonus program that adds extra cash-back on your purchases
I have my checking account with Chase bank for 8 years and primarily using it for deposits and automatic billing - a great experience! They don't have monthly fees and hidden charges, their customer support is excellent - I had all my issues resolved quickly, within one phone call, I'm pretty much satisfied. I also enjoy using their online banking and mobile app - the interface is super intuitive and I have all information I need at my fingertips; moreover, they allow depositing checks via mobile app (although the limit is $2,000 - I'd like to increase it). Another thing to mention is they notifications - with timely alerts, I don't worry about extra charge on my account. Fraud prevention program is a bit annoying, but I'll go for it - I like they're keeping eyes on suspicious transactions. In overall, it's 5 stars - highly recommend!
I have been a customer of GE Capital bank for more than 5 years - I own a credit card from Banana Republic. I signed up over the phone: provided my info and some clarification details to a customer service representative and she was able to open the account for me. I really like my card and use it everywhere, not only in banana stores, but it's also beneficial using it in restaurants and grocery stores to earn some points. The bad thing about those is that you cannot cash them out, but it's not that critical for me as I use points as an excuse for shopping. Their web interface is pretty easy to use, with no overwhelming details. Highly recommend!
Earning Banana's points is the best part - perfect excuse to buy a new dress.
Capital One Platinum card was the first card i've got (I didn't have a credit history yet). What's really good about it is easy refund process: once you report a fraud, it takes them 2-3 days to return money back on your account. Couple times I notices unauthorized transactions made with my CC from different countries I've never been before, so I've reported those transaction, my card was immediately disabled and money were returned back to my account in several days. Another nice option is putting custom image on your credit card - it makes the card so personalized. I also like how Capital One represent the break down by your spendings. What's bad about Capital one, is low credit, high APR, high service fee and no rewards. Chase Freedom card has more benefits here.
I should say my experience with Chase Bank's savings account is excellent. Interest rates are above the national average and can easily transfer to a checking account if I need to. Transfer rates are faster than other banks I currently do business with. Another thing I should highlight is the navigation - it is very intuitive, I can easy access all my information via portal. Their UX designers did a great job. Thanks, Chase!
