My husband and I love this card and we use it to pay for everything: gas, groceries, utilities, eating out, college tuition! I love how I don't have to do anything special to get the cash back. We're getting 3% back on gas, and that is one commodity that we tend to go through quickly. Every time we accumulate $25 in rewards, it pays out cash. We tend to take that and tuck it back in, using it to pay on our balance. We do keep a budget and we stay on that, paying off the balance in full each month. Getting that extra cash back is a perk I'd never give up!
What really turned my eye to Bank of America for a checking account is that they offered payment reminders and alerts that I could set up for my own needs. I find being able to work with my checking account via my cell and being able to receive text information from them a real bonus. I'm not always able to get down to a branch and I'm not always near a laptop or computer. Knowing I can access my checking account via my phone is a huge relief. Most banks already have it so that you can set up your checking account to pay this or that bill. I didn't like that too much because it was always too easy to forget about having paid XX bill and then using my debit card and becoming overdrawn. I don't have to worry about that anymore since they have those payment reminders. I'm so glad for those!
When we were looking to buy a used car, we reached out first to our bank to ask them. We had opened a joint checking and savings account with Commerce a few years ago. We still have accounts there even now. Setting us up was very simple and took hardly any time at all. I especially wanted a savings account so that I could stash away money for emergencies but also gain some interest on the money as it was in the bank. Commerce made this quite smooth. I really liked how they didn't try to sell me on things I had no interest in. I still bank with them today and I'll definitely be banking with them in the future.
My husband has had his own account with Wells Fargo for years. When we moved it seemed logical to come to Wells Fargo to open a joint account. We told the banker we wanted an account just like the one my husband originally began with. The banker set us up and then after all the paperwork was in place we were told we had to have XX amount of $ in the savings account at all times. My husband's original account was never like that. I'm kind of ticked because that wasn't disclosed to us prior to us signing on the dotted line. The banker should have gone over the NEW policies they put in place and not just assume that we would know things had changed. Even if a customer knows of every change when it is made, the banker should always check before anyone signs anything. I'm still kind of riled up about that. Other than that, the employees and other bankers there are quite nice.
I originally came to PBFCU on the suggestion of my sister. What I really liked is that even though I was a stranger coming in, they treated me like family. The tellers were very sweet and nice and the lady who set me up with my checking and savings account made things very easy to understand. I originally got set up at the smaller branch. I was sure that going to the larger branch would have me being treated indifferently. I was wrong. No matter what branch of the PBFCU I have gone to, every employee I come across there is as helpful as they can possibly be. No matter what I ask or how many times I need something explained, they are all very patient and they always make sure I understand things 100% before I leave. I'm very pleased with this credit union and am glad that I chose to come here.
When it came time for my husband and I to choose a car insurance, we knew my father had done business with Geico for over ten years. We went ahead and compared prices and packages with many different auto insurance agencies. None of them were as low as Geico and as far as it goes for signing up online and choosing our package--that was a breeze. What I also really liked was that we didn't have anyone from Geico harassing me on the phone with repeated calls when I wasn't sure (in the beginning) as to whether or not we would choose them. Now that we have, we are glad we did. It just goes to show, with a man as stern and hard as my father, if he's been in business with a company for over ten years, they should really be considered if they are meeting his standards!
