I like my Bank of America regular savings accounts because I can use the linked checking account to save money easily. I have the "keep the change" monies going in directly from my checking account each month. I also like having my savings account set up to cover any accidents that might occur on my checking account with an overdraft protection. This actually did come in handy once, when a store clerk double rang my card and caused me to go into the red in my checking, my savings account had enough in it to cover it. The main thing I do not like about that is how much money they charge for you being able to use your own money to do this. This was 25 dollars it cost me and I thought that was highway robbery. It is what it is, other than that I really like my account. I would say that if they raise that rate much more, I would consider moving my account but for now since I don't plan on using overdraft protection much, It is okay.
I like Citizens Bank overall. They do everything you would expect your bank to do. The online banking is not too complex and it is pretty easy to set up transfers between internal accounts. I do find the external bank account transfers to be more complicated than they need to be. I like the way you can make a list of people and companies you wish to make payments to, if you have a few you pay frequently this comes in handy. I don't think they show enough details for any items in pending status and it seems to take a very long time for money to become available at times. I have had a few problems with them having a person on my account going into the bank and being told they were not on the account. This actually happened twice to the same person. They were pretty nice about getting it fixed both times, but it was quite frustrating when it happened. They are well placed in many Acme Supermarkets and so I have plenty of available times to get to the bank when I need to do a deposit in person. I also like having them in a market so I can kill two birds with one stone many times, by getting my banking needs done and also pick up a few groceries. I should be more upset by the mistake with my check signer problem, but it was fixed both times very quickly and they have promised it will not happen again since they have notated the account.
I really love my Capital One checking account. They were one of the first banks that I found that would allow me to use to send money between my other accounts with no hassle at all. They provide me with a Debit Master Card which comes in handy and they have a very easy to use online banking layout. I am able to see what I spend almost instantly and also what money I have coming in very quickly. They have a clear area for any monies that are pending both for my deposits and my withdrawals and purchases. They show you where they money was spent at or coming from in nice detail even in pending status which many banks don't do. I like to check my accounts daily and also know what money is really available at all times and this makes this easy to do.
I love this bank. I originally had a ING Direct account but it was taken over by Capital One 360 some years ago. I am happy to say that I have not noticed many changes and still consider this my favorite account. I even decided to add a checking account not long ago and I am also very happy with my checking account. I use my savings account to "pay myself first" and it really does work to help build up a nice savings. I find it very easy to make transfers between internal and external accounts and also it is great when working with international accounts. I have had problems with several other banks not being so globally friendly but this has never been a problem with my trusted Capital One 360 account. I would highly recommend this bank.
