For a savings account Bank of America doesn't really offer much. I had heard bad things about bank of americas customer service, but I never had to deal with them personally. My main issue with this account is that, it is basically like any other savings account, except they charge ridiculous fees on top of it. I signed up with them off of brand name alone which was a big mistake. Once I realized just how much they charge you just to store your money there, I closed the account and moved the money to a free savings account. The fees are just too much and are completely unnecessary.
I usually use my online only checking account, but when I moved to a new location I needed a local branch I could visit for certain banking needs. I didn't want to go the big banking route with their high hidden fees and extra costs and what not. So I checked out Vermont Federal Credit Union. I haven't had any problems with them what so ever. The employees and other staff have always been very friendly and treated me like a real person instead of just another account. No hidden fees, and they are straight forward with their policies so there's nothing to surprise you later. Overall a great credit union.
My old bank didn't really have much for online banking features like check deposit and things like that, so I began looking for another one. I was offered I believe $50 or so for signing up for a Capital One 360 checking account and I have to say I'm very satisfied with the service so far. It's online only, and there's no fees of any kind which is great. They don't even charge a overdraft fee, just charge you interest on what you go over on. I haven't had any problems so I don't know how their customer service is. But so far so good.
I used to be a member with Citizensbank before they were bought out by First Merit. There haven't been too many problems. Customer service isn't the best, but not horrible or anything. No unnecessary hidden fees or charges. Just make sure you don't go over draft because their fee's are ridiculous. Other than that, they are a pretty good bank.
