I am a millennial who worked in finance early in my career and made the switch to hostility and operate my own restaurant. I value the ease of use and convenience of banking products
I am a relatively new TD customer and have had nothing but good things to say so far. I opened this account for a couple of reasons: 1. I only have an internet bank account and wanted a brick and mortar account 2. They offer free change counting ( for account holders) - PENNY ARCADE. The application process was smooth and they have a low minimum on their checking account to avoid a fee. Also have all the standard bells and whistles of a checking account. What sets them apart is the ability to mediate a problem most of us face. What to do with all are change? Do we sit and roll? Do we pay 10% to coinstar? Well TD solves that problem and will count all your change for free and deposit it. The pennies I have are being put to good use! This is what drew me to them in the competitive world of checking accounts haha. And I am glad it did. They also seem to have competitive credit cards, which I may sign up for. I am keeping my savings at an internet bank, brick and mortars are still not competitive on rates
I originally opened this checking account to be able to easily withdrawal funds from my schwab brokerage account, and it has slowly turned into my everyday checking account. The overall fee schedule is wonderful and transparent, you easily avoid a monthly fee and I get all my atm fees reimbursed. There are of course fees for bounced check, overdraft, etc.. but no out of the ordinary hidden fees you need to watch out for. They offer a mobile check deposit limit that is easy to use. It does have a 10K limit so if you need to deposit more you can mail to them or stop in a schwab office, which most major cities offer. The only issue is cash, which is an issue almost every mobile based bank deals with. I have had a few times where I either needed to withdraw specific cash or deposit a large amount ( casino winning!) and this account made that hard to do. I knew that going into a mobile account so schwab doesn't lose a star for that. Overall the fees, reimbursements of this account outweigh the negatives. I see this account being my "go to" checking for the long haul!
I have had my Capital One 360 savings account for about 5 years now. I have been very pleased with the easy to use interface and easy of transfer capabilities the account offers. I am able to link my brick and mortar bank(s) and transfer relatively easily. I can also cut a check and mail it online directly from the account. This has allowed be to pay bills and save a stamp. One thing to keep in mind is there is a 5 business day hold time on new deposits. At first I did not realize this and needed some of the funds before that time ( I over transferred) and was out of luck. Since this can really drag, I recommend you open their free checking account and transfer money there to reduce to hold time. Lesson learned! The interest rate isn't the highest in the category but its up there. I am not an interest rate chaser anymore and would sacrifice 10-15bps for better service like CapOne offers. The choice is yours though. All in all this has been a great account that I see myself using for many years. I give this account four stars, one star off for long hold time and rates not at the absolute highest.
