When I first got my car I needed some insurance and after doing my homework and shopping around I found out Esurance would offer me the best option. The rates were better than other companies and the customer service had good reviews. I haven't had to file a claim yet but I have heard nothing but good things about the process. Hopefully if I'm ever in that position I won't have any problems either. Overall though I can't say anything bad about them.
Because of my career I prefer to use online banking now a days. It's just far more convenient to me to deposit checks from my smartphone and not have to go into a local branch to do it. I prefer a good credit union if I do need to go into a branch, but for all other banking, I use Ally bank for my main checking account purposes. It's an online only bank but they have great features. They reimburse you for all ATM fees, and no other fees associated with the account, which is just amazing. You really can't go wrong with them.
I was fed up with the mega banks out there that don't really care about you or your business and just want to nickel and dime you as much as possible. So i was recommended to Apple Federal Credit Union by a coworker and I have been using credit unions ever since. they are leagues ahead of big banks. No crazy monthly fees, they treat you with respect when you come in, and they actually try to help you. Highly recommended.
I have had an account with First Merit Bank for a few years now and they're a pretty good bank. There's no crazy fees or anything so that's always good. I don't believe there is a minimum balance either. The customer service is good as well. I have a few other bank accounts but this one is pretty much average compared to the others. Not bad but not great either. It's a good bank though.
