I use Susquehanna for checking and a line of credit. They have been nothing but helpful. The branch personnel are very nice, phone customer service is easy to get through, online banking doesn't stack up to the big boys but it works and does what you need. I have had to use the customer service line over the phone several times and love that there is no wait. There is always a big wait with the big banks so it is nice to still have local banks that value serving their customers and being responsive. No complaints here. Good bank.
I judge insurance companies on two points - pricing and claim resolution. In regards to claim resolution, Erie has always been pretty solid. I have never had to fight with them to resolve issues and the customer service and responsiveness is pretty good. In regards to pricing however, they have been pretty inflexible. I have a longer commute than most in my area and they dinged me pretty hard when they realized the number of miles I drive to work each day. There are plenty of other carriers that would not do that, especially since I have never had an accident on my record. That was disappointing.
I like this savings account. There isn't much not to like about it. I do wish rates were better but in comparison to many other savings account interest rates, this one is top notch. The process of transferring money in and out of the account is very simple and happens quickly between your bank and Discover. It is personal preference to keep all of my bank accounts at one bank just for convenience so my only complaint is that Discover doesn't offer other banking solutions like a checking account. Other online banks have offered this so I hope Discover gets into the business as well.
This checking account is fine for basic checking. The interest checking would be nice but why keep that kind of balance level when the rates are pitiful? The most irritating issue with this account is the ATM fees. I love Bank of America's services in general as I have many different accounts with them but it feels like the ATM fees are painful if you withdrawal from a non-BOA ATM. Unless you are in a big city, there are not BOA branches or ATMs on every corner. It would be nice if BOA either reduced or eliminated the ATM fees for some or all of their checking accounts.
