No credit card needed
A few years ago I decided I needed to start saving money so I started looking for a good place to make a savings account. I shopped around a bit but settled on GE Capital Bank. The very many positive reviews, high interest rates, and also no fees really sold me over. So I joined up and ever since then it's been very easy to put a little money away every month. I'm not really sure why it's more convenient but it is. I am also much less tempted to dip into the funds because it's on an online only account. All and all, I've been very happy with it and would recommend it to others.
I got fed up with the big banks so I decided to check out a local credit union. My co worker had good experiences with Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union so I decided to join up with them. I haven't had any problems at all with them and everything has been great. No crazy monthly fees like I was charged by my old bank, great customer service and just an overall atmosphere when you walk in. The local branch was very close to my home as well so that was a huge plus.
I have been with USAA bank for a while now and have a checking account with them. They have no fees which is great, free checks and they reimburse ATM fees. You really can't go wrong with all of that. The only down side is if you need to deposit a check you have to do it in the UPS store, but I do believe they have a mobile app to make deposits as well.
I have been with First Merit Bank for about a year now. They are a good bank and seem to be adding new features quite often. They recently added mobile banking options so that is pretty cool. There's no fees either with my account anyway, so that makes it great in my book. I have no complaints with them really.
