I received an offer to sign up with Capital One 360 for the checking account, if I did so I would receive $50. So of course I jumped on the deal because, why not? I like the account, there are no fees so that's good. They have a good online interface that makes mobile banking easy. I already had another online only checking account with another company but I will be using this one as well.
I signed up with USAA a while back when they let people who aren't in the military join. Since then I believe they have closed it back up though, but if you can get in, they are a great bank. Free checks, reimbursed ATM fees, fantastic customer service as well. They really can't be beat.
My family used nationwide for car insurance and naturally I went with it as well. I saved quite a bit of money going with them though and I don't regret it at all. Their customer service is amazing and they really go to bat for you if you need help. I recommend them nationwide to any one who asks for my recommendation for car insurance. I mean definitely shop around but in terms of value and peace of mind, you can't beat nationwide.
I needed a local branch to do business with. I have an online only checking account but sometimes you need to go into the bank, and I definitely wanted to avoid big banks. So I went with a credit union. I signed up with Montana Federal Credit Union and they have been very nice. No fees at all, they treat you great when you walk in and are very friendly. Overall, I would recommend them to someone in the area looking for a bank.
I have an online only checking account with Ally bank. They have treated me very well and I couldn't complain about the service. They are online only so no local branch to do business with. But because they have no branch, they pass on those savings to the customer and they have no fees at all. The customer service is top notch. I would recommend it to someone looking for a checking account.
