I joined Branch Banking and Trust when I was 16. My first few years weren’t terrible, other than fees for student checking-despite an ad for free student checking. I had to call several times to have them reverse the charges. Then there was another incident when I bought something online, and the store emailed me saying they had refunded the money because they no longer had the item in stock. However, BB&T didn’t return the money for 12 days. Their policy is within 3-5 days. Each time I called, they’d send me back to the store I made the purchase. The final straw was that I had a savings account with them, and they advertised a rate, but the interest rate I received was half that. They said the rate changed the same day (just later in the day) that I set up the account.
I have been with Nationwide since I began driving at 16. They have always been great! First, the billings are available online and in the mail, and I get reminders from them to keep from missing any payments. They also offer drafting, and give a discount if I opt to do that. Additionally, they drop your premiums for random discounts such as multi-car, no accidents, and other things. A few years ago, someone backed into my car and left. I made a claim, and it was all handled within a week, and they provided me a rental car. I love Nationwide!
He is very knowledgeable and customer friendly! Not only was he helpful in explaining my rates and vehicle coverage, he explained step-by-step for handling over titles and turning in tags when we were making vehicle changes this year. He has been very helpful and we are very happy with our insurance there!
I simply LOVE Virtual Wallet. I have the apps on my phone and tablet, and I'm set up with online banking too. I've never had an issue, and they offer incentives all the time for things I purchase. They also have a great referral program! I'd recommend this to anyone looking to watch their budgeting and track their money management better!
Overall I had a good experience. I got a car loan through Coastal Federal. My fees were very low, and I rarely had to call about an issue. My only complaint would be that I sent an additional payment in, and rather than the payment being applied towards that month’s payment (as I was told by a representative) it was paid as an additional payment towards the principle. Thus, I still owed for that month. However, after speaking with a representative, they completed the transaction.
