No credit card needed
the thing i like the most about this card is the easiness to apply, and get approved for it; you can do it online, and start shopping the minute that you get approved, you do not need to wait for it to arrive in the mail like other cards, so that is extremely convenient.
i gave this four stars because of the APR that it is a little higher of what i am used to. however, they did give me a year with 0% APR and at the same time free balance transfer, i did not use the balance transfer option, but did use the card. also, was able to pay it off before the year, so i had no interest charged. i believe that they are a good bank, and seemed easy to deal with, but i did not have any issues, so i am unsure whether they are good at problem resolution. another thing that i like is that they have may ways to personalize your card which is great.
i find this to be a pretty low interest rate for a savings account however the convenience that it provides me to put money aside from my paycheck automatically every month is just great; also, CDs restrict me of when i can use the money, so i always like to have some at hand for emergencies, as soon as my savings hits a certain amount, i will be opening one with some of the cash. it is a pretty convenient product to have if you want to organize your personal finances if you already bank with U.S. bank. i give it a four star rating because the interest could be higher.
it is just a great product, with the best user experience i have had with a store card. first of all there are a lot of deals always going on, and you get an even better deal if you pay with the card. also, there is no need to take your coupons with you anymore, your credit card has them on file for you, so their paper version works more as a reminder than a coupon. it is true that the APR could be lower but i always pay it in full, i just use it for the convenience, and special deals, and the special treatment you receive from the store staff.
i have had my fair experience with insurances, and now that i just bought my first house, i know i needed a policy to cover my new investment. they were very attentive during the process, and very clear with their policies which i appreciate, they did point some things that i should watch for in my policy, but ultimately let me decide what i thought was best for me. i have not had any issues, and hope not have to make use of my policy but it is reassuring to know that they are there watching out for me.
i only write reviews hen the situation deems it appropriate; either they did something exceptional, or they did not meet my expectations. in this case i am very disappointed with the bank. one night i used one of their ATMS that is located just outside a Kroger, and withdrew 600 dollars, i have the receipt to prove it, and the money got stuck in the ATM, for i was only able to pull around 250 from the slot while the rest got eaten by it. the next day i spoke with the branch GM who told me that i had to wait for the ATM to get balanced or something, and so i did. then she confirmed that there was a surplus of money, for my money was there, and that i had to create a case. now it has been about two months, and i am still trying to get my money back; corporate seems unable to find the cash even though the GM already did.
i resorted to this union for my first car loan; it was a budgeting issue. then, the interest rate at my bank was higher than what i was comfortable with, and since i did not have a solid financial situation yet, i needed to look for a better option. the way i see it i may have traded a little of convenience for a lower rate. i like that credit unions bring this to the table because i was able to buy my first new ride that way. there were no big issues on their end, and they were willing to work with me when i had personal issues; i lost my passport abroad, and was unable to return to the U.S. on time for my car payment, for they contacted me over e-mail, and allow me a little more time to wire the money. i really recommend them if you are willing to go through a little more loops for your loan.
Note: both the application process rating, and the problem resolution rating, are a reflection of my perception, but not of the performance of this company; i have not had any issues with them which is great, but i cannot asses the quality of their problem resolution skills. Also, all insurance application processes are a drag, but it is a must, so there is no pleasant way to do them. they have offices on Cincinnati, so i figured better go with a local company; their prices are average in the market, and if you examine your policy, you may be able together with your agent to make a more affordable/fitting one. they are friendly, and reliable, which is king when choosing an insurance company.
I am really bad with overdraft fees, and the U.S. Bank personnel are great with me by helping me; if I ever go on the negative, the reps will contact me and let me know so that I can deposit as soon as possible, and bring my account to the positive again. I usually choose banks based on number of branches, so it was a pleasant surprise when the first over draft fee issue arose because it was very pleasant to deal with them, and now I can say that I am a loyal u.s. Bank customer. They also have a branch at my school campus which is pretty convenient, when I need to deposit or withdraw while at school, for I do not have to leave campus in order to run most of my errands.
