No credit card needed
This is an OK card. The APR is low due to the fact it is a secured credit card and is useful for rebuilding credit. As someone with low credit I found it easy to apply for the card and there where no hoops to jump through. I would have liked it if they had offered some kind of rewards but as rebuilding credit is the goal of the card I cant complain too much. When you add funds they have made it easy and quick.By the end of the first year your credit should be better and you can move on to another card. Overall if you need a way to increase your credit its worth having but if you have OK credit its not worth it.
As a big electrics fan I love best buy and the best buy store card. Although the APR is a little steep there is no annual fee to worry about like the Sony card I used to have and this balances it nicely. If you have the funds to pay the balance off right away they offer a standard reward point scheme of 1 point per dollar spent and if you buy a lot of electronics these points can really add up quickly. The added bonus of the $5 reward at each 250 points is sometimes a nice surprise too. There is a good introductory rate of only 11% and this is for 2 years so you can use the time building up your points without worrying about high interest rates taking up all the savings. Overall a really good card i highly recomend.
I feel the Guitar center store card is really only useful if you are in the market for an expensive piece of equipment as the terms get better the more you spend. For example if you spend less than $600 then it works as a regular credit card(minus the rewards but more on that soon) paying over 20% APR over $600 and you effectively get a 2 year interest free loan for the purchase. Unlike cards like the old navy card you get no rewards or cash back at all! As the requirements for the card are fair credit and up if you are making a sub $600 purchase I feel you are better off getting a credit card with a similar rate but if you are buying something big(over $600) then apply for this card as you won't pay any interest for the 2 years you are paying.
OK things I don't like about this card first. Firstly there are no rewards, none, zip. Even though this is a credit repair card I would expect at least some. On other cards I have had in the past like the discover card I at least got 1% on gas purchases. Secondly the APR is really high at nearly 25% and the late fees are also high at $35.At the end of the day this is a no frills card for people with little or no credit who will be happy with a low credit limit and who will pay on time. The best point is the low annual fee of $19 after the first year (which is free) One thing I would recommend is for people to check with their bank first as most banks like chase which i have had before offer a credit card similar to this but that offers rewards.
I think the Citi secured credit card is great! It is designed for people who have low or bad credit, with a low interest rate and can be used to rebuild credit. As its a secured credit card you need to place a deposit down on the card ($200) and then you can spend that(much like a prepaid debit card) however the cost for this is very reasonable as the annual fee is only $29 which is a lot lower than other cards like this. Having had a capital one card in the past I am much happier with this card, Lower APR, better customer service and fraud protection on top. Overall this card is great for rebuilding credit and good for getting back on your feet.
I have had this card for just over a year now and to be honest with you I am thinking of canceling it. Don't get me wrong the card is good if like me you don't have the best credit as its easy to qualify for this one but once you have improved your credit and qualify for more cards there are plenty with a lower annual fee (even within the same company) The gas rewards are good but at 1% it would be difficult to earn back enough to compensate for the fee. As the card takes bad credit and there is no initial payment do as I did and use it to improve your score before moving on just make sure you pay ontime as the late payment fee is quite high ($35)
The Marathon credit card is a good card if you travel a lot and spend a lot on gas. The terms can help you save up to 50 cents off each gallon of gas (great) but only if you spend over $1000 per month(not so great). As there is no annual fee you don't have to worry if you get the card but don't really use it. My other card is a capital one card and I get high rewards on that so if i'm going away than ill use the marathon card to build up points before the trip but otherwise the capital one works out better for me. The APR is acceptable and overall the card is good so as I said if you travel a lot go for it if not it might be worth having for those trips we all occasionally make.
The Journey student rewards card from capital one does exactly as it says a card designed to help students control their funds. As you only need limited credit history and there is no fee to begin with it makes it easy for you to qualify and get the card. One of the best features of this card is that for each month you pay on time you get an extra bonus of 25%! This means you learn the importance of managing your money and get rewarded for doing so. My first card was a chase credit card and the customer service really annoying but the journey card is much better. I think the low credit limit is good as it prevents overspending but its high enough if you just need a little help now and then.
The Case Ink Bold credit card has a good bonus for the sign up (50,000 points) but you need to make large purchases to get this ($5000 in the first month). The first year there is no annual fee but after that the fee is high at $95 per year and unless you can make large purchases throughout the year it will be hard to cover this. The credit score needed to get this card is high(above 720) so really this card is aimed at people who have a large spending budget and not for the average joe. Overall if you have good credit and spend a lot on supplies then this card is good otherwise look elsewhere.
The best thing about this card is the fact that there is no fee each year. This is great if you only occasionally use the card rather than shopping there every week. The extras such as the cash back really work if you do all your office shopping at staples 5% on purchases can really add up. Although the APR is higher than some cards the payment options make it easy to pay the balance quickly while still gaining the benefits. Overall its worth having if you shop there a lot or tend to make 1 or 2 large purchases there per year. If you only occasionally shop there for little things and hold a balance on your cards there are other cards that will serve you better.
This card is a great card if you travel a lot and can make use of the great rebates on miles but if you are just an occasional flyer then the annual fee might make this the wrong card for you. As british airways flies to many different locations you can use this card almost anywhere you want to fly so racking up the points can be achieved easily and quickly and if you can spend $2000 in the first 3 months you get the bonus 50,000 points which is a great start. The other great thing with this card is that there is no foreign transaction fee so if traveling abroad you can really take advantage of the benefits of this card. There are other cards out there for other airlines (delta etc.) But if you like to fly B.A. as I do then this is a great card to have in your wallet.
The Menards store card has some great points about it in comparison to cards like the old navy card but there are some big drawbacks too. The main pro of this card is that there is no annual fee and you earn cash rebates at places other than the main store (Kwik trip among others) so this is a handy card even if you don't live near a Menard store. This brings me to the main down side to this card, Menard is a very regional store located in the Midwest, If you live there then this card is great for fixing up the home and garden. If you dont live nearby then you still have the cashback on the other stores and the initial $10 reward on your first $100 is great. As there is no annual fee its just getting more for the money you would be spending anyway.
I think the radio shack store card is fair, as with all store cards it is only useful if you use the store on a regular basis and as other reviewers have said if you prefer online shopping than this card wont be for you. Having said this with no fee there is no reason not to have this card in your pocket and use it when needed. The interest rate is quite high for a store card unlike old navy and others but this is countered by the breaks you get for high value purchases (6 months interest free for purchases over $150 etc.) and the discount on batteries (15%) is great in the run up to xmas if you have kids and are buying lots of battery using toys. Overall it wont cost you anything to have it and it may come in handy for those big purchases.
I have had this credit card for a few months and am very happy with it. The acceptance process was straightforward and easy. I needed a card that would help me repair my credit and this card ticked all the boxes. After putting a modest security deposit on the card I could use it straight away and quickly found out the payment system was as straightforward and easy as getting the card was! The low interest rate surprised me and as I only use it when needed I rarely pay any more than I spend. The only reason I gave this a 4 out of 5 rating was the lack of reward system that many other cards have but otherwise I would highly recommend this card to others.
I have had this credit card for just over a year now and I find that its accepted everywhere with no problems.I had problems the first time I paid off the balance as I paid it but after 3 days the payment still had not shown up, however when I phoned up capital one the customer service rep I had was very knowledgeable and helpful and had the problem sorted out within 10 minutes. I like their online contact service and find their site very easy to navigate and make payments. Capital one has made it very easy for me to start rebuilding my credit score and I am looking to upgrade my card soon.
