If you are looking for a card that is not too difficult to obtain to build your credit, this is a good one. They have promotions often too like 0% interest. The APR varies but it pretty competitive too. You can also earn cash back when you use this card to shop. If you use it online you can save even more when you go through their website. I don't really use this card much anymore though. Discover doesn't seem to be accepted a lot of places that I need to use a card so it isn't always convenient. I like to keep most of my charges in one place so as not to get confused and it's hard when it isn't accepted everywhere.
The Lowe's card can save you a bunch of money. If you time it right, it could be hundreds or even a thousand dollars. I waited until I was planning a major home improvement project, the kitchen and appliances. I went in, had a coupon and also opened a credit account for an enormous savings. The interest rate is pretty average for a store card which means you wouldn't want to carry a balance if you can manage it. I have never had any issues with customer service so that's a plus. The best part is that you get 5% off all purchases. It doesn't seem like it, but that really adds up if you do a lot of the work around your house yourself like we do!
This was one of my first cards. I find that a lot of places don't take American express and ended up letting it go to clear out the clutter. It was easy to get which was nice when I was younger and trying to build my credit up. The cash back that they offer is nice but I found that I earned rewards that added up a little faster with other cards. The rates aren't bad and the customer service is helpful. Overall, this is a nice card to have, and you can often get one with a low credit line to help you get your credit established.
I think the Home Depot can be a great choice for homeowners. Especially if you have many large purchases to make. We waited until we needed appliances and got the card. We received 10% off and had no interest for 6 months so we could pay it off before we accrued any. We saved a couple hundred dollars. The interest rate is rather high so if you use the card plan to pay it off right away or within the first 6 months if taking advantage of the introductory offer. Customer service is helpful and if you are doing a project that exceeds your limit they may be willing to increase the limit if your account is in good standing.
This card is nice for savings off the first purchase. You also get coupons in the mail and offers for cardholders. The APR is kind of high, but in line with other retail store credit cards. I would recommend not carrying a balance on this card because you will waste all of the good deals from your coupons and savings when you have to pay that interest charge. You can pay your bill online, by mail and in store so that is convenient. They usually have really good deals on nice clothing so, paired with this card you can save a lot. Otherwise, I don't think the card has a lot to offer.
They are always wanting you to sign up for this at the airport and I thought I'd check it out. Turns out you can accumulate enough points right off for a flight so right there it's worthwhile. It's always best not to carry a balance on your cards but this one has a pretty standard APR if you don't pay it each month. It is easy to redeem the points online or by phone and you can get tickets for yourself or others with them. Southwest is a great airline so it's nice to get rapid rewards points buying the things I would normally get anyway. I like flying them best because they don't usually have hidden fees and they seem to be the best at taking off and landing on time. This card is worth considering. I've never had any bad experiences with it.
Target always wants you to sign up for this when you check out and I finally gave in. IF you do a lot of shopping at Target you can save a lot with this credit card. 5% off your purchase doesn't seem like a lot but since they have everything from groceries, a pharmacy and electronics you could really save. I wouldn't recommend carrying a balance because the APR is a little high but if you can pay it off when you use it you will get a bargain. You can also benefit a school of your choice by using the card which is great for parents, teachers, grandparents etc. No complaints about anything yet!
I have had a Dillard's card for several years. It is helpful when they are having sales and you save big when you make a purchase and sign up for the card. You can special coupons and offers in the mail for being a cardholder too. The fees and APR are in line with other department store credit cards so if you don't plan to carry a balance this is a good card to have. I have never encountered anything but good customer service and like being able to pay in person as well as through the mail or online.
I shop at Old Navy a lot for the whole family. This makes having the card a real plus. You get a large percentage off of your purchase when sign up which is great when making a large purchase like at Christmas or back to school shopping. Their APR is average and I haven't found any drawbacks to having the card. I like that they have special offers for card holders, like notice of sales or discounts. You can shop with the card in the store or online for Old Navy, Banana Republic, Gap and Piperlime. I really like that you accumulate points when you use the card toward future purchases. The store has easy return policies and this card is great for frequent shoppers.
I enjoy having a Macy's credit card account. The interest rate is a little high but the benefits are great. You are invited to participate in special events as well as given special discounts and coupons to use while shopping in Macy's stores or online. You can pay you bill in store too, in addition to mailing the check or paying online. These perks make the card worth applying for. It is not advisable to use this card as one you carry a balance on though due to the APR. I have had the card for years and received significant savings at Macy's when using it and the coupons when I shop there.
This is a really great card. There is no annual fee and if you have the Visa version you can use it anywhere. It is good for Cabela's store, online and catalog purchases as well. You earn points that you can use toward merchandise. I have had no trouble at all cashing in the points for items like an air mattress and other outdoor gear. I have never had any problems with customer service and I think they are a good company. Cabela's also has high quality merchandise so if you are an outdoorsy type it is worthwhile to use their card because of the rewards.
I have had the JC Penney card for years. I have found that you can save money by using it while purchasing merchandise in the store and online. You will also be privy to sales and special events for cardholders. If you shop at Penney's a lot it is worth considering being a cardholder. The customer service has been easy to deal with. You can also may your bill in person and online in addition to the usual way of writing and mailing a check. The APR is in line with other store credit cards. I haven't found any drawbacks to using the card.
I have had this card for a long time. I initially got it because I was offered a big discount for that days transaction and I was making a big purchase. If you are making one I recommend getting this card. They also send you offers and coupons for being a card member. There is no annual fee, the APR is pretty standard and there isn't any reason you shouldn't use it. If you apply for the VISA or Mastercard version you can use them anywhere. If you get the Sears card without those logos you can use it at Kmart and Sears. I've had good experiences with customer service, problems resolved quickly in a friendly way.
The Kohl's card is great to have. You get special coupons and early notice of sales for having it. Sometimes you get money off when you use it too. The cashier will give you a scratch off to save either 15%, 20% or 30%. When you sign up you get a really excellent deal the first day, usually 20% off which is great when paired with their already great deals. There is no annual fee and you can pay your bill online, by mail or in person at the store. They have friendly customer service too. If you shop at Kohl's often it is a good idea to give the card a try.
I have had the Victoria's Secret VIP credit card for many years. It is nice because they give you points that you can accumulate for a store gift card. They also send you periodic coupons and offers via postal mail as well as email. They are usually really good deals so if you already like to buy from VS it will only be a help to get the card. When you sign up they also give you a book of really good coupons to use monthly. There is no annual fee and the APR isn't too bad for a store card. They're website and customer service is easy to deal with. It is easy to pay the bill online, by mail or in person at the store too. The only drawbacks I see is if I don't want to pay with the card I can't always use the coupons and that you only receive store reward points.
I have no complaints about this credit card. There are lots of choices for using your reward points and they are easy to cash in. The website for the card is easy to navigate and the few times I have called customer service they have been helpful. You don’t usually have opportunities to earn more than $1= 1 point so rewards do take a while to accumulate. They have deals sometimes where you can do interest free balance transfers which can be helpful but it's pretty standard. You can use it to receive AAA discounts wherever they offer them, so at hotels or stores like Payless and Walgreens you can ask for the AAA discount.
I think the USAA World Master card is great. I like that they offer incentives to use the card beyond points. For example, there was a promotion where if I spent X amount over say a 6week period I got a free companion airfare. Recently, you got $10 if you used the card a certain amount of times during a period. You also accrue points which are good for things like gift cards. They are very easy to redeem. As a company, USAA is wonderful to deal with and the cards are no different. Another bonus is that if you use the card to rent a vehicle the insurance is covered. You also get discounts with some companies for using USAA. I would highly recommend taking advantage of this card if you can.
I use my Marriott visa whenever I make a big purchase and the miles really add up fast. Also being silver status from the card is nice. You get a few perks because of this. I have never had trouble with customer service if I have had a question or concern with the account. The APR is competitive too. I would recommend this card to anyone. You might as well get something back if you will be spending the money anyway and who wouldn't want to have some of your vacation paid for? Incidentally, I have gotten a free night each year just for having the card in addition to the original free nights. Basically the annual fee pays for itself if you like to travel.
