No credit card needed
I have had a Macy's card for over 25 years. It is convenient to use and there are some perks involved but not that many to justify using one unless you pay off the balance as soon as you receive the bill. My concern with store credit cards in general is the huge interest rate they charge-most over 20%. Really? How can stores justify the kinds of rates that can get consumers in trouble? I have seen the interest rate on my Macy's card go from 5% to 25% and the customer billing service go to the hounds. I had paid a bill and they sent it to collections as they said I owed $6.18 It took months to straighten out the problem. I would not encourage others to apply for or use this card.
This Bank of America Cash Rewards card at first glance seems like a great deal. The only problem is that after the initial flood of rewards in the first few months of spending, the rewards decrease rapidly. Also, one has to be careful as the intro rate is for a limited time. If you are the kind of person who pays the bill off every month this might be a good card for you. Just be leery of increasing interest rates.
The Wells Fargo Rewards card offers some great perks. In this era of tight money even a small amount of cash back on purchases is a big bonus. Also great is the fact that you can use the rewards in so many different ways. When it is time for a new credit card I will certainly consider this one.
Target Prepaid credit card is a risk I don't want to take even if it is through American Express. The hacking episode Target had a couple months ago probably could not have been avoided. Reading the news about the cyber attack makes it look like the company did all they could to protect consumers. Still, I would be very unlikely to give anything having to do with Target and credit another chance.
I don't know how widely accepted this card would be. There is a schedule of great rewards that I would be tempted to use if I shopped often at Ann Taylor stores. I don't like the international transaction fee. That would discourage me from using this as my "go to" card.
