No credit card needed
I got this card to have a loadable card not connected directly to any bank or credit account of mine. My accounts were all flush and I wanted to have a way to send money to a family member who was travelling a lot. I gave them this card before they left. It was really easy for me to get online and arrived at my house in a week or so later in time for when I needed it, but you do need to plan ahead. This card acts just like any other debit card would, you can easily use at any ATM that has Cirrus logo on it. What I loved was how I could handle loading the card right online if I used one of my checking accounts. This way my family member could skype me and ask for cash. I jumped on to my account online and reloaded the card, and it was available almost instantly. I called customer service one time and they were friendly enough and answered my account questions. What I did not like about the card is that you could not use a credit card to load online. I tried to figure out a way to get that to work but for some reason they will only load the card from bank accounts. In order to use a credit accounts money, I would have to physically withdrawal cash for it and go to a store and buy a redeemable card to load my prepaid card with, that is just stupid. I have to say in some ways it works great and in others it is lacking. I also think the fees for this card are way to high and was way I ended going with one of their competitors in the end.
This is Bank America credit card is a pretty good card. I had pretty good credit when I applied so I have in the lower range for my APR which is one of my biggest concerns when I choose a credit card. I also really like the introductory rate of zero percent for the first fifteen months. It comes with overdraft protection, I have never used so that does not really matter to me. All banks seemed to have raised their late fees up and this one is no exception to that. The twenty five day grace period is nice but the cash advance feel is steep and the APR for cash advance is almost twenty five percent. It does have a smart chip and online banking as all banks should these days and all in all, it is a decent card I have had no problems with.
If you travel a lot, this Expedia credit card is a nice card to have in some ways. The smart chip will come in handy if you go to Europe, the lost baggage protection and travel accident insurance is good for peace of mind. I will say the APR is way too high for someone who pays attention with excellent/ good credit score to settle for. Forget about making any cash advances on this card, they hit you with 3 percent up front and a 25.24 APR thereafter. In other words, you get hit while on your trip and afterwards when you come home. The foreign transaction fee of 3 percent just takes away a bit more from it's draw. It's nicest feature is the reward program but I personally do not think it is enough to make up for all the fees and high APR. I would opt for another card with a much lower APR.
This Dillard's credit card has a very high APR for one that requires Good/Excellent credit to obtain. It comes with many nice perks such as the Dillard's reward points, but for that APR I have to say NO. I comes with pretty hefty late fee of thirty five dollars if you forget and pay late too, pretty harsh for a card only for those that have a proven track record of good credit and so are far from dead beats. I would also say if a card these days is going to charge 3 percent foreign transaction fee, they should have the courtesy to put the chip in you will need in order to be able to use it in much of Europe these days.
I have had this card come in handy more times than I can count. I use it for my garden supplies, my Christmas decor and I have even bought large appliances on it. I personally choose to handle all my payments and statements online. I love not having to deal with the mail for making a payment. I also love being able to send extra money anytime I want. They are also quite good about not filling my inbox with tons of unwanted spam. They send me my bills and important notifications and nothing else, and that is just perfect for me.
