Credit One Bank® Platinum Visa® for Rebuilding Credit
There's two sides to every story. My story
with Credit One was a tale of 2 different years.
I am grateful that they gave me an
opportunity after I was late on 3 credit card
payments that hurt my score about a year prior.
Those are my fault. I have learned so much about
how a life-changing event can change your credit
The first year with
Credit One bank was great, I was originally approved for $300 and over the
first 6 months became $600 (without an increase
fee) and I continued life and carried a balance
throughout making every payment on time but my
utilization floated around 50-60%. As the end of
year one approached, about 11 months in they
messaged me saying a way up for an increase, if I
were to pay a fee of $25. At first I thought hey
okay this is great I'd love a higher limit.
Now I wish I said no.
As month 12
rolled around, so did all their fees. (Which I
knew about so that's on me. But a year goes
quick.) In hindsight I suggest hanging on to this
at 11 months MAX. Authorized user fee, monthly fee
of $8.25 (after first year) plus carrying a
balance interest pretty much makes your minimum
goes just to those.
Month 13 rolled
around and I thought eh I don't need this crap
anymore, since I acquired this card I also pulled
a Discover IT, Capital One, And Capital One QS
cards. So on Dec. 21st I called to PIF and CLOSE
the account. After many attempts to wave fees for
3 months and verbally saying I could do that over
and over again if I kept the account open. I again
and again stated I wanted to PIF and CLOSE this
card. After 5 attempts to stop me from closing,
they finally agreed, took my $482 instantly and I
requested mailed proof. Well here we are 3+ weeks
later and another monthly charge has showed up as
well as a balance charge of another $2.68 randomly
popped up today so I called again, this time not
as happy.. I again requested the account closed,
they said they would waive the fees and send me a
confirmation letter in the mail.
will keep you all updated as the situation
unfolds. I'm hoping I can finally close this
and put this behind me. Again I am grateful for
them taking me on as they sprung me to bigger and
better cards. But this is blood sucker card after
year one. BEWARE.… read more
