My mostly negative review of Capital One
Quicksilver is based on my almost 2 years
relationship with this financial institution. I
have currently 750 as my credit score without any
derogatory account, nor a missed payment. I have
existing savings and checking accounts with direct
deposit with Cap 1.
Well, after 6 requests within my almost 2 years of card membership to upgrade my credit card to the Savior one and increase my credit line, Capital One customer service denied me for the only one reason stated of low utilization which has been between $15 to $30 monthly balance for a credit limit of $500. It goes without saying that a higher utilization requires a higher credit limit! Quicksilver has a flat rate of 1.5 reward cashback that is very low compared to Discover It, Chase Freedom, Amex everyday Cashback and US Bank Visa Signature cards. Also, Capital One has limited branches location or "Cafes."
The only good thing with Capital 1 is its website that is user-friendly, the no annual fees and the no foreign transaction fees. However, no chat or secure email options available with the credit card division which is a shame compared to other financial institutions.
In sum, unless you have no choice, I don't recommend Capital One card to anyone for its horrible, discriminating and disrespectful customer service, for the low credit limit cap without any effort to increase, for the flat very low reward rate, for the high APR rate, the very limited branches location and for the
unavailability or non-existent chat or secure email option. There are better cards and financial institutions. Quicksilver can be good for 1 st time credit card users or for building credit profile/score. Other than that, I don't recommend it.
