Preface: I was approved for a CL “just short
of siggy status” - at 700 vantage score
points, less than a year total history, some money
sitting in an idle WF checking account, and 12
inquiries / 7 new accounts.. YMMV.
A VERY “good looking” card. It is my main wallet card because I like
how it looks and feels (it has a silky smooth finish). It is also accepted everywhere because it is a VISA..
(2nd best looking card is Amex Cash Magnate, out of 12 cards.)
However, the App/processing and pending delay is subpar compared to more polished/focused systems like Amex, Cap1 (MasterCard), and even Discover. The WF app seems less specialized and also contains obnoxious “ad banners” for other WF products.
It takes awhile before transactions are posted and transactions can be “lost” after pending status but before being posted (they will eventually show as posted). This might be a VISA issue, as the Uber card also has the same quirk.. and I’ve seen it with Discover as well sometimes. (The Amex and Cap1 apps don’t seem to have this issue.)
Also “immediate ransaction alerts” can only be sent to text/email, not push notifications.. seems dated.
1.5% cash back is “Okay”, but nothing special. Amex Blue Magnate and Cap1 QS are also 1.5% QS also has no forex. Both the WF and Amex cards have $25 minimum redeems. Discover has only 1% guaranteed but can be applied for any cash back amount.. (I have these cards as well, but Cash Wise “looks better” so I use it for in-person/wallet transactions).
I also have an Uber (Barclays VISA card), although it came with a low CL- Cash Wise came with a generous CL at “ok” credit, making it more suitable for my wallet card. The Uber card has a MUCH BETTER rewards rate and comes with cellphone insurance.
So, while I love how it looks (and the CL)
continue to use it for my main wallet card, I have and maintain other credit card accounts for other transactions/situations.… read more
