So after a lot of research I opened a rewards+
cities credit card. Approved instantly no problem
for a $4200 limit. Through the citi app it Has you
log in to your bank account through your login
credentials for you personal bank. No problems
there. It populates your accounts you have through
your bank, you then select which account you want
to pay from.
So I select said account, entered a fairly large payment, and it posts. Easy, or so I thought. From this, it rejected my payment because of a communication error through their payment system, which then populates a returned payment fee of $150. Odd. So I call, figure out it was an error where their app created which basically boiled down to they couldn’t draw the checking account number correctly so over the phone I gave them the checking account number and routing, made a payment over the phone, and corrected the issue and they were going to refund the fee because it was in fact a mistake. Now for the meat and potatoes.
I go to use my card for a $1.50 soda, declined. What?! I call, citi closed the account because of a returned payment, because the app doesn’t properly communicate with their payment systems, which then draw a return fee,( which never should’ve happened in the first place) and now my account has been closed because of an error the citi had already admitted to. They tell me I have to submit a request to re-open it, won’t be accepted because of that fee. Again, an issue that was already resolved on Citi’s end. Apparently not. My account got closed because of this ridiculous error, and they won’t re-open my card I’ve had for 3 weeks, and I already made 3 separate payments on because the payment system is flawed. So I will never have a citi card ever again, they are unwilling to resolve this issue, and left me with nowhere to go because of their error. I have a couple cards through capital one and I have NEVER had this issue. So Citi, buh bye. Enjoy your terrible reviews.… show more
