Very Bad i Lost the job Due to COVID and I asked for 3 months to pay and confirmed by phone and online account Still on the may 2 they report to credit rating company, so my credit score down by 48 points,
Been with Affinity plus federal credit union, for years this is how they will treat you eventually. Closed my account with no prior notice, said they could. Returned my paycheck, and that is how I found out they closed my account. Then returned my Social security check, and can't pay rent, gasoline, food, car insurance, or utilities. I am single that is only income. Happy Holidays from Affinity plus!
The absolute worst bank in Bemidji MN! When I asked for suggestions for local banks many suggested the Affinity Plus Credit Union. I have banked with them since a 2016 until my breaking point in 2019. The catch is there real time banking. Seriously thought this was an awesome feature. To be able to deposit and use funds on the weekends and evenings when regular banks are closed. Well the fine print is that they have real time but few other banks do. We link our accounts together and bank online. This in the past has made transferring funds a breeze or so I thought. When depositing they take your funds in real time. But it takes 3-4 days for transfers to post to other banks. When transferring fund from another institution to Affinity it takes 3-4 days for a deposit to post. This has resulted in over $6,000 of bank fees. score dropped 150 points while being associated with Affinity. I had a business account and a personal account and it was three years until they offered any services for mobile banking for the business side. Calling the branch to talk to a real person is ridiculous. They offer a point system to give you extra bonuses. Careful, that means even if you show valid proof of the times of transactions and their “real” time banking they offer no remorse or take action for their own banking practices. I have never been approved for a loan from Affinity. When any other and every shank I’ve been associated with has approved me for loans over the phone without issues. Normally if I get a bank fee I pay it and move on. But when I got my yearly analysis I was shocked at how much I had paid in fees. I asked for money to be transferred into my savings and to pull funds from there if I was shy because of this bank timing. Well they only allow six transactions a month. They charge you for every check you write and deposit. These fees add up. They are really taking advantage of people with this glitzy of real time and member privilege. What a crock. Investment banking is the lowest in my city and loan interest is not any lower. Fees are $5-$10 higher. This is a cookie cutter bank that is fitting to individuals that work the 9-5 with direct deposit. Any other normal human should seriously bank else where unless you like giving your money away. Ridiculous Stay Away!’n your wallet will thank hou
They have great customer service who are for the people and the community not for profit. I can use my points to pay for checks or for donating to charity or to cover that expensive pesky overdraft fee on the rare occasion that I overdraft my account.
I banked with Affinity Plus for four years, mainly because they approved me for a $12,500 loan. Money was automatically transferred into my Affinity account from my job and Affinity withdrew the money automatically for my car loan payments. Pretty simple, huh? I had NO issues for the four years until April 2018 (my estimated final loan payment) when I was told that I had missed a payment a year prior. Until April, I received no phone calls, no emails and no updates when I visited the bank. I was told that Affinity didn't have my contact information. I personally went into the bank once I moved in 2015 to change my address but, somehow, they didn't get my new address... I found that to be a little strange since I was receiving junk mail with my name on it.
In April, I was only contacted via email regarding one late payment and told that I would have to pay an additional car note fee in May. I didn't like it but agreed because it would end my loan payments. That's when they contacted me again to tell me that I also had to pay another $367 in late fees for the past year... fees accrued each month since the one missed payment. That floored me because not once were these fees ever mentioned. When I called and visited the bank, the bankers were equally confused and asking why the bank couldn't just erase or pay the fees. They even noticed that I was very consistent with payments minus the one missed payment. My choices, pay the fees or the bank would do a charge off (with my money from my account) and give me a negative mark on my credit. I, of course, had to pay the fees.
Back to my address... I was told that copies of letters informing me of missed payments were sent to my old address. At a bank branch, I was told that only one letter was sent... period. By June of 2018, the message changed and I was told that a letter had been sent each month to my current address regarding missed payments. This really confused me because now they were claiming they had my new address the whole time. I asked for copies of the letters, low and behold, Affinity was able to produce copies of letters (back dated) with my current address... the one that they claimed they did not have. To add salt to an open wound, Affinity MISCALCULATED my last payment by $2.17 (they never told me by the way) and charged me a late fee of $17 for their miscalculation. When I asked about this, they told me that they charged it off. As long as you don't apply for loans, your account is fine. If you have a loan, they will scam you.
I have been a satisfied member of State Capitol Credit Union and its successor Affinity Plus since 1965. I have never been so ill served as I was last week while transferring to Poland. One teller, and a customer service representative were most helpful; other staff failed to fulfill the commitments that were made to me. Here’s a summary of my sad experience: On Saturday July 21 at the University Avenue, Minneapolis Affinity branch I initiated a large dollar transfer to a Polish Bank. I was told that the transfer would happen on Monday July 23 and that I would receive an email that day allowing me to stop the transfer if I chose. Monday came and went with no email. However I did see a large dollar amount leave my account. The friendly teller also tried to ascertain the whereabouts of my money without success. By Tuesday July 24 I was upset and mystified. I telephoned a customer service representative who was able to hunt down the transfer confirmation and have a copy sent to me. The friendly teller was still trying to help. She was given the extraordinary excuse that I did not get a confirmation because the transfer was going to a bank and not to an individual. Here are the failures? • I did not have the opportunity to reject the transfer if that had been necessary. • I did not get a confirmation that my money had gone to the right place until I demanded it. • The excuses the friendly teller passed on to me from Operations were so absurd as to beggar belief. Firstly, the money came from my account therefore a confirmation of where it went seems obvious. Secondly, the explanation that because the transfer went to a bank and not to an individual I didn’t deserve a confirmation is anything but convincing. Why does a confirmation to me depend on the transfer going to a private person and not a bank? I wrote a letter of complaint to 8 Affinity executives. I got a phone message on my answering machine from a perky woman who left the number 651-212-6192 and asked me to call back. I’ve tried many times. She doesn’t answer and the response says that the number hasn’t set up a voice mailbox. How’s that for responding to a customer complaint?

This is the worst bank you can ever deal with The representative Denise at ext 7335 was such a disappointment; rude, sarcastic and refused to connect me with a supervisor Im planning on taking this one step further as she mocked me and told me Im refusing to make my payment. The call should be monitored and she needs to be reprimanded
I am going through a financial hardship at this current time. I have around $700 in fees and overdrafts that have occured on my acount since losing my job 4 months ago. I was recently able to save and deposit enough funds to get my account up and positive!! but not by much, Does ANYONE on here have a few Participation points that they would transfer to me? I really need some help and dont have any family or friends that bank there!!! I need at least 12,500, but anything will help!
I've had two car loans with them with no problems . I started having problems when I applied for buying a truck . I was not approved the first time I had some things to clean up on my credit that I was already in the process of applying. They asked me to fix those few things and reapply in 60 days. I did so and applied for smaller lower than the original one. I got approved but only for the cost of the vehicle not with the tax title and license. I tried a few times to work with him to get the tax title license cover but they would not budge. So now I'm putting it in position to where I have to go to a different Bank or Credit Union to get the loan I need. They are willing to losing a customer over $1,500.
yeah right! I also closed my account over a $35 overdraft fee. You know the sad thing about that? I had money in the account few minutes after the overdraft charge. Had a rude customer service representative talk to me anyhow, was asked to be transferred to the manager and she did same. I later called my local bank, only to be told about how irresponsible I have been. They really surprised me, especially because I had no problems before until now.

Yeah right! I also closed my account over a $35 overdraft fee, just because my insurance was late to take the money out of my account. I explained this to them several times but I consistently had their customer service representative, their manager, and a representative from my own local branch telling me about how irresponsible I am not to be monitoring my account. Wow
