Very slow processing of applications, with process failures along the way. I had to call multiple times to get them to move the process to the next step, only to be asked to resubmit documents that had been previously provided. In two occasions, poorly trained staff requested financial documents over (unencrypted) email, without any consideration of the security implications, even after I highlighted the risks.
We've been customers since the mid 90s. Their customer service has gone from excellent to beyond sub-par. My husband's parents, who also had Alliant accounts, passed away within 3 months of each other. My husband was POA and then executor. He called over one dozen times over SEVEN months, sometimes on hold for over 45 min and each time they said they had to "research" the documents that were mailed two separate times. He had to resubmit their IRA distribution forms four times. It finally concluded because one specific agent had communicated via email and her phone number was on the email. She actually returned our phone call. Other agents bold-faced lied about follow through and never returned our phone call after repeated voicemails to their alleged extension (there was no salutation, so we think the extension was b.s.). We wrote a letter to the CEO and cc'd it to a VP and one board member. We got ZERO response, no acknowledgement whatsoever.
This lender could have given me a better rate altogether but they did not so I will refinance with another company’s soon as possible to

They’re method of handle co-borrowers (co-signer) is disrespectful to a person legally responsible for someone else’s action. They’re is no rhyme or reason to it.

Applied for a Checking account and entered the information for my current bank and needed numbers and immediately after submission got an email saying, "Your application did not qualify because we are unable to verify your identity as required by the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001". The email said I should call customer support for more information. As a US citizen that my bank had already verified and they had gotten access to my checking account, I had no idea what this was about. I called and they had no other information. There is no appeal. The lady said I could apply via a paper application "if I really wanted to". So much enthusiasm. Made up my mind for me with that comment. I don't need to chase and beg them to take my business. With support so disempowered and disenfranchised with helping prospective customers. they must be terrible with actual customers. I'll take my business where it is wanted.
I listen to Suze Orman promoting Alliant Credit Union and the many advantages of signing up with their high interest savings account. Its crap you enter all your info online and at the end you are turned down for not being able to verify identity. My credit score is in the 800s. Its odd that they are able to see your bank accounts but not able to verify your identity. When I tried calling, I spoke to an associate and his manager and neither of them were able to give me a reason or any suggestions. All this made me nervous especially having to enter social security number. SUZE rethink Alliant !!
I applied there and submitted all the forms and all they could do for me is give me a savings account and when I wanted to find out why they couldn’t and wouldn’t tell me. This is the worst credit union to apply for they give you the run around and they say there about the people when they really are not… I wish there was an option of no star. They are worthless
If I could give zero stars, I would. Not a good bank at all. They hold deposits, even CASH deposits for up to 10 days with no explanation other than, "Because if you'll read the fine print in our agreement, it says we can". No joke. They held a CASH deposit of $200 and wouldn't allow me access to the cash I had JUST had in hand, but decided to deposit instead. No access to even one single cent. For TEN DAYS. Because, evidently, they can. Also, the 24/7 member services phone numbers, both the 800 number and the international 773 number are currently going straight to voice-mail. No member services representatives have answered even once, between my first call around 9:45 p.m. and my 20th call which I just aced at 10:54 p.m. My vehicle is broken down on the side of the road and for whatever reason, my card keeps being declined. For a tow truck, a hotel, a warm drink. So I guess my 7 year old daughter and I will just sleep in the car, on the side of the road, with the doors locked and pray we aren't assaulted or worse. Thanks, Alliant.
They helped me get a personal loan for my credit cards when my own credit union would not help me. Never heard of them but they work with a service called Happy Money to help others get out of debt. Very happy with them!

Legit the worst banking experience I have EVER had! Do not trust these people with your hard earned money! They have held my money in limbo EVERY month for the most insane reasons I have ever heard of! Customer service is useless. If you want to wait 2 weeks to have your funds available, then hey, be my guest. But I promise you this place is a SCAM!
The starting credit limit for the Alliant Cashback Visa Signature card is $10,000. That's the amount everyone who's approved for the card is guaranteed to get.
In time, you could qualify for a credit limit increase by always paying your bills in full by their due date and by improving your credit score and income.
To apply for an Alliant Credit Union personal loan, visit Alliant's online personal loan page and click the blue "Apply Now" button. Then, if you are already an Alliant Credit Union member click "Log in & Apply." If you are not a member, click "Apply as New Member," where you'll be able to join the credit union after receiving your loan decision. Once you're on the application, agree to the terms and conditions, select "Personal Loan" as the loan type and fill out your personal and financial information when prompted.
It's important to note that you will need to be a member of Alliant Credit Union before you can get the funds for any personal loan you're approved for. The good news is that anyone can join for free.
An excellent credit score is needed to apply for the Alliant Visa Signature credit card. But this doesn't mean that your credit score alone will guarantee your approval. The issuer will also look at your income and debts to decide if you're a good fit for this card.
