They are predatory like I've never seen. They have essentially stolen my money. I had a deposit come into my account and I mobile-deposited a check on the same day. They held the deposit for two days and put an exceptions hold on a check for 400 freaking dollars for 8 days. This money was essential to my circumstances that week & they completely took advantage of me.
My account has been opened for under two months with no overdrafts or suspicious activity. I deposited a BB&T check for over $800 when I opened the account and wire transferred $800 the next week. So, my account was always in good standing, they had no justification to hold my money hostage except that they were depending on me for overdraft fees to the account. I turned on overdraft to my demise to buy food on May 9th because I knew a deposit was hitting my account the next day and I had a check in my hand that I was going to mobile deposit in the morning of May 10th. They immediately posted an overdraft when I logged in the next morning to make the check deposit, not even 24 hours because I purchased the food at 9pm after work.
Any other bank would consider that I was replenishing my account and would not have charged an overdraft fee. Truist saw an opportunity and immediately held up my money. I work hard for my money and sometimes I have to use it to make more money but I couldn't do that because they refused to clear my check or give me a written explanation of why an exception/administrative hold was placed on the check.
Customer service consists of foreign nationals who don't give a crap about you or America and will laugh, lie, or hang up on you without regard. They also have no sympathy for us, likely because Truist is paying them crap. Likely their business model- (hire foreign nationals with no interest in The wellbeing of Americans and pay them so low that they won't even do the bare minimum to help consumers, that way we can fully take advantage of the consumers of our bank). The in branch customer service is just as pitiful which I wish I had walked away when I first experienced them. These people obviously don't hold degrees like most bank tellers in other big brick & mortar institution, likely because Truist can't afford to hire them.
Truist is like the McDonald's of banks but without McDonald's money. Even Chime is better than truist.
On top of the overdraft fees, to add salt to injury, they sent me 6 pop-open cards, that are not sealed on the sides,to notify me that my account had accrued fees. Any tom, duck, or Larry could pop the card open on either end and read about my account issues. This comes after my request to receive paperless notifications about my account.
Then the cards had the audacity to advertise other banking solutions that may better serve me instead of overdraft. F YOU!!!! Listen Truist, I WILL NEVER USE ANOTHER PRODUCT WITH YOUR NAME ATTACHED. I don't even want to step foot in truist baseball park again, that's just how disgusted, taken advantage of and hopeless I feel from this situation. I HOPE THIS BANK CRUMBLES TO THE GROUND. I know for a fact that this was an overdraft scam because I needed to make a one-time transaction for $450 and it would not allow me but would allow multiple smaller transactions until the amount of the check that was on hold and the deposit amount was exhausted.
I am a single mom and would have went without anything that week to avoid fees but my kid's graduation ceremony was then and I needed to get to work and had to rent a car that week. They charged me 9 overdraft fees and agreed to refund only one.
What's even more laughable is that the bank is supposed to get rid of overdraft fees this summer because they've "realised that they have made millions in overdraft fees from consumers and that just isn't right. " HA! As soon as the check's posting is finalised to my account and the deposit I'm expecting tomorrow that will cover my overdrafts, clears, I am closing this account and will spit on any ground bearing Truist namesake. I wish you unrecoverable bankruptcy. Not like you're doing anything for the American economy anyway with all CSR jobs oversees plus 99% of your employees suck! & when you tell the foreign CSRs that you're closing your account, they mockingly say, awww that's too bad & then perkily say but I can help you with that! I will closely monitor any business this CEO becomes a part of and run! The bank is forecasted with a 76% chance of bankruptcy, I've read, but the CEO just got a 2 million dollar raise. "Tuh!"

How do you redeem SunTrust rewards?
You can redeem SunTrust rewards for statement credits, deposits into a SunTrust bank account, travel purchases, gift cards, or merchandise by logging in to your SunTrust account and navigating to the rewards redemption section of their website. You can also redeem rewards through the SunTrust mobile app or by calling the Rewards Redemption Center at (800) 255-7125. But if you redeem for travel over the phone, there's a $25 service fee.
SunTrust has three rewards-earning consumer credit cards, all of which accrue so-called “Cash Rewards credits” at different rates. You can start redeeming for cash back when you have the equivalent of $5 in Cash Rewards credits saved up. And if you redeem credits from any SunTrust credit card for a deposit into your SunTrust checking, savings or money market account, you'll get a “Loyalty Cash Bonus.” The bonus could be 10%, 25% or 50% of your redemption, depending on the balances in all your SunTrust deposit accounts. Higher balances mean a higher bonus.
There are differences between SunTrust's rewards cards when it comes to redemption, though. For example, the SunTrust Travel Rewards Credit Card will get you a better redemption rate on travel than the other two SunTrust credit cards. And cash redemptions into a SunTrust deposit account are always worth more than getting a normal statement credit.
As for the merchandise you can get with your credits, SunTrust has quite a few options: high-end sunglasses, Amazon gift cards and branded merchandise, event tickets, jewelry, handbags, FitBits, and more. If you don't have enough SunTrust Cash Rewards credits for an item, you can always use a combination of rewards and your credit card.
If you have any trouble redeeming your rewards, call SunTrust rewards customer service at (800) 255-7125.
