When I was looking for a good bank to use a friend recommended a credit union. I was tired of the monthly fees my old bank charged all the time. I felt like I was being nickel and dimed every month. So I checked out California Credit Union. They have no fees at all and no hidden charges. Their customer service is top notch and friendly. They treat you like a real person instead of just another account. I highly recommend them.
This credit union straight out Sucks, they treat long term customers like a new customer , putting 4 day holds on a 7 dollar purchase?!! I could understand a 7,000 dollar purchase but not only that…. They will list you with 8,000.00$ credit card available but won’t let you use it if you have a prior 5k card purchase…. You can be with them for 30 years and they will still treat you like a 30 day new customer, sucks and don’t even deserve to have California in their name so go head waste your time an money to try them an you’ll see lol
California Credit Union processed my HELOC quickly. They offer up to 100% CLTV which is almost impossible to find elsewhere. There were no fees. Their interest rates are lower than most too. Highly recommend.
They want you to go paperless. Then they only keep 2 years worth of statements on line. Then they charge you $2.00 per statement to get them before the 2 years. I thought they were saving money by going paperless. When I contacted chat, they said I should have downloaded and print them myself. REALLY.... Stay away from CCU. If you are ever audited you have to provide 5 years worth of records. This bank is living in the dark ages. To make this clear, your statements are held hostage, unless you pay.
If they have so much capital why are they harrassing my father who is in a nursing home and his daughter me who is trying to make those damn payments each month...they are mean and nasty...we will be paying them off this month for the most part due to my father having to take out a chunk of his investments...they have no record of my father having 60 years of membership in the los angeles teacher's credit union and myself 30 years when they must have erased all old data bases when they changed their name to ca credit union..they even to not have any knowledge that I took out a car loan from them and paid it off in the last 10 years...before they had join forces with North Island credit union in San Diego...ever since they have outsourced their credit handlings who say I have no problem...but these assholes still harass me. f them
I'm going back to school first. The representatives are extremely nice and the products are way better than California credit union ??????????????????????????????????????????

I would give them a zero star if i could. I used to use them all of the time to get quarters because they are located right near my apartment, until one day their security guard went off the deep end and started straight up harassing me for parking in the parking lot even though i was going to use the bank. The manager there then defended her and did not even say sorry for the way i was treated and then banned me from the bank for voicing my complaint. Is that how you guys handle customer complaints? Ill be speaking with the supervisor of all of the LA branches and hopefully those terrible people will be gone.
Upon looking at other reviews (on google and yelp) I'm now aware that I'm not the first person this has happened to. It seems like this security guard has harassed a few others. Seems interesting that they keep her even though they have gotten several complaints about her.

When i got tired of the many trips to the mechanic's shop I randomly happened to come across an associate of this credit union at a local mall and she told me how great and competitive their services were all i had to do was get approved. I took the initiative to take a car loan from the credit union and upon approval i got a great APR on my loan and many options to suppress my accrued interest. Their loan manager was very hospitable and reliable before and after taking out the loan. If i was to buy another car i would not think twice about having California Credit Union finance my car of choice.
I have been using credit unions for a couple of years now (I prefer them over banks), and I just found out about California Credit Union. They have a summer savings thing for teachers, I think that is a pretty cool idea. They take a portion of your deposit, and throw it into a savings account that has a higher APR.
They also make you feel like you are a part of a family. They usually address you by your first name, and they always seem to know who comes in through the door. I really think this credit union is one of the better ones in the area. I think everybody should sign up with them especially if you are a teacher so you can take advantage of their summer savings program!

I had found this credit union while I was in college in the San Fernando Valley. A number of friends used them at the time. I had only good experiences. The application process was so easy. I had a free checking and saving account there. I also had my first car loan and mortgage with them. The rate was low at the time. Applying for both was a fast process, as loans go. The customer service was awesome. I really like credit unions; they do treat you like a valuable customer, not a bank number. As with most credit unions, there just aren’t enough branches.
