Capital Pacific Bank

I have a checking account through Capital Pacific Bank and I think that it is a decent bank. They don’t have any crazy fees (unless you bounce a check) that you get on your statement. Even when you do mess up and get a fee for insufficient funds they will reverse the fee as long as you don't do it a million times. I also got a home equity loan through them when I wanted to do some remodeling on my home. The application process was easy and quick and it seemed like in no time I had my loan.

Capital Pacific was the bank I used when I lived in Oregon. Nothing special about this bank. The staff at my branch wasn’t very friendly. I felt like I was being treated as a number instead of a human being. The application process took forever and they did not accept me for a credit card, although my credit rating at the time was average. They do not offer 100% free checking like a lot of other banks. There are hidden fees everywhere. I called the branch and asked to speak with a supervisor concerning an issue I had on my bank statement. I was told that the supervisor does not take phone calls! I closed my account the very next day. You shouldn’t bank here unless you're rich, because then they might care about you and your money.

My experience with Capital Pacific Bank was average to say the least. It was not the worst bank I've been with, but not close to the best one either. Their application process was a bit slow and took a bit longer than usual. That in itself was a bit of a nuisance. Furthermore, their customer service reps at times seemed uninformed when it came to answering my questions and would put me on hold at times. I'm a bit of an impatient person and I've been used to customer service reps from banks providing me with quick, accurate service and answers to my questions. Their service moved at a snail's pace compared to Wells Fargo's. However, aside from that, I never encountered any issue with wrongful transactions or my account becoming “temporarily" unavailable like I've had with some banks, so that was a plus for them. I would not recommend this bank, but I would not advise against it either.
