Holy Cow, I never leave reviews but I had to this time. Loan was transferred to CMS January of 2023. I had automatic payments setup with previous lender for the last 2years “no issues” never missed a payment. Was unaware that I had been transferred to Carrington. No voicemails, no mail, no email, no text message, NOTHING. I had no idea until I saw CMS reported to the credit bureau. Called them the very next day and they had to update my contact information in their system. Told them I would back pay the last 3months and they declined. They tacked on close to a grand of late fees and lawyer fees. They insisted I write a letter to their “research department“ explaining the situation, okay cool so I did. Takes up to 30days and in that time they still proceeded to foreclose my home and set a sale date with the bank! My previous lender got involved, they reached out to CMS and Carrington told them that I was not interested in keeping my property! LIES! The previous lender reported this as a servicing issue between the two agencies considering that Carrington was sending my mail to a place I’ve never lived!! Seems to me that this company is using homes as leverage for extra money and if you dispute they strip properties away! They’re gonna get sued by someone quick, fast, and in a hurry!
I would avoid Carrington home loan if possible. My loan was transferred to them therefore I had no say. They are usually late with reporting payment history and my last 2 years of payment history aren’t even on my records. I do not recommend. The only way I was able to get the mortgage to reflect on my credit report was to submit a request to the Better Business Bureau.
They were extremely helpful in respect to saving our home by lowering our payments and changing the terms of our mortgage. I would recommend them to anyone.
We have a reverse mortgage originally established by another company, and eventually footballed into Carrington's hands. By definition, a reverse mortgage cannot default unless you fail to pay your property taxes and upkeep. We have always been meticulous about both. Despite this, we just received a notice of default, with no explanation and no answer at the listed phone number. Lame and useless organization. As a retired attorney I look forward to suing the crap out of them unless they back off immediately.
Take homes behind your back when you won't sign paperwork with no stated payment amount, in writing. Lies about presenting paperwork to save your home. Predators.
Carrington should not even have the privilege of doing VA loans. Their treatment of veterans is disgusting. My husband is 100% disabled. Therefore we don’t have to pay property tax due to his disability exemption. Our loan was sold to Carrington in 4/2022 we were able to make our payments fine until 6/2022 when they preformed an analysis of our account and without contacting us at all they raised our payment from $1716 to over $2400. We were unaware of this change until we went to pay our mortgage and the website would only accept the $2400 amount and would not accept the normal payment of $1716. We called Carrington the next morning and they would not accept the $1716 amount over the phone either. They said they would have to setup an escrow analysis and they would get back with us. We ask if our payment would be considered late and they assured us it would not since they were looking into it. After a week we had not heard back we called again and it was still being worked on. Again we ask if this payment would be considered late and again they said no. We called back 3 more times and finally they completed the analysis and our payment actually went down by a few dollars. We at that point paid both the June and July payments. Then we noticed that our credit score which was 795 dropped to 700. When we checked Carrington had turned us in as a late payment. We called and ask that this be removed and they refused. We called again and again they refused to remove the late payment. Now my score is 702 thanks to the late payment for Carrington. We have never in 30 years lbeen late on our mortgage. This is no way to treat anyone much less a veteran!!!

My mortgage was transferred to Carrington Mortgage Services 29 days ago. I have still not been able to set up online access to may account. Every time I call, I am told try again in a few days. I have been told my account has been sent to their Senior Account Specialist and their IT department. I have been waiting on a result from them for over a week now. I still do not have access to my account. I have a payment due in 8 days and have no access to my account. I have been told to try using MoneyGram to send a payment if my account isn't resolved by the time my payment is due. They said I could 'try' to make a payment over the phone, but when I explained to them that when I attempt to use the automated system to make a payment, I am told my account number is nonexistent and my phone number is not associated with any accounts. Every time I call, I feel like they are just "passing the buck" to a different representative. That is, when I am finally able to reach a representative as my shortest wait time on a call has been 18 minutes. If you have a choice DO NOT use Carrington Mortgage Services. My mortgage was transferred to them from a different company. I would never choose to use this company and I hope my mortgage is transferred to a different company soon. I would gladly go through the hassle of the transfer just to get a company that is actually competent.

BUYER BEWARE!!! I have a VA loan with this company, not by choice but because my loan was sold to them. They do NOT work with people who are in financial trouble, they go straight to foreclosure. Rather than trying to keep a veteran from losing his home, they would rather put them out on the street in the winter time. I have reached out to discuss options. Both times they claim that they don't have my contact information even though the time between phone calls was only a week. They are making a choice to avoid helping those who are in need. As COVID and the Recessed Economy have impacted so many, they are just unwilling to help. Don't have Carrington Mortgage Services have anything to do with your home. You very well may lose your home because of them. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Awful! They are trying to foreclose after saying I owed 2 months that were paid on time and trumped up late fees that were almost as much as a payment! Failed to apply my payments. Left my payments in "unapplied" for extended periods of time. Every communication produces different amounts due. Simply a scamming, thieving, rude company. Would leave no stars if that was an option.
Has this been resolved yet? My son just received notice and he has never paid late and even pays extra principal every mo.

Extremely poor customer service. Company does not know how to use digital communications. Screwed us over after 4 months of work on paperwork that *they* "needed". All the reps I spoke to did not understand anything more than "Your loan is up to date" and I retold my issues to more people than I can count.
