A couple of years later, I opened a student credit card. My intent was to link the card to my checking account for overdraft protection, at the urging of the banker. I did this, but they didn't link my card properly, and I still ended up dealing with overdraft issues.
This year, I turned 24, which is when you no longer qualify for student checking. The day after my birthday, I noticed I was overdrawn. They had switched my account over to a normal checking account without any notification, and took out a monthly fee (also with no notification). I feel that this was a little underhanded, and I strongly disapprove of their tactics.
I've always felt like a number where Chase is concerned. I don't feel important enough for them. I've thought for awhile about switching to a local credit union, and it's something I'm still considering.… show more
