I purchased a warranty - furnace broke. Called 3-21-21 they sent someone 3-23-21. Waited on part until 3-26-21. Company stated due to normal wear and tear 35yr old furnace needs replaced. Choice demanded 2nd opinion. A new company came 3-29-21 stated the exact same thing. 10 days later they deny the claim stating water damage etc. Not what either company stated. I have full reports from both companies. I have a husband with 7 heart attacks with no heat in the middle of winter. Every time I call they state they will get back with me in 24/48 hours. Both service companies stated this Warranty company never pays. I believe this is a complete scam and would like to investigate. I understand there have been 5000 complaints in the last 3 years and the Arizona Attorney General has filed suit. If I could rate this a zero I would.

They say they will cover all appliances in your home due to "normal wear and tear" but my furnace went and the repair man mentioned corrosion, they sent along a statement that they do not cover the replacement. They said - It has been determined that the furnace is not working properly due to corrosion of the heat exchanger, and needs to be replaced.
Please refer to your terms and conditions section F number 1; we are not responsible for malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion of all systems and appliances.
If I could rate them a zero I would have - very deceptive and dishonest company.

Briefly - crooks that try to do everything possible to deny any claim that exceeds $400-$500 believe me. This is the truth not depending on the reviews and stars that have got. This is a BS company as many others. As soon as they start making less than twice of what had paid, this is when they start denying all claims. I swear this is the truth.

Your Mother @saundersdm
Horrible! I would give ZERO stars if that was an option. 8 days to replace my hot water heater. Tons of excuses. They never return phone calls and if they do, they have a system in their phones that will send their call directly to your voicemail. Then they tell you they are sorry they missed you. When you call back, they are unreachable! It’s like a game for them to see how long they can avoid you! Unfortunately I purchased and prepaid for a 5 year contract - and if I cancel, they will charge me an early termination fee and then find other ways to keep the money. They will deny coverage for items that are clearly listed as covered under your contract. Save your money - go elsewhere. They SUCK!
Also they sent out someone to repair my toilet that wouldn’t stop running. 2 trips and he couldn’t fix the flapper chain!! I told them under No circumstances were they to send anyone that was not licensed and insured in my state. They continue to send general handyman that would show up in 30 year old trucks with no tools.

My technician didn't show up then when he came days later he took my kitchen sink apart and never came back. Choice sent another company and they said the basket strainer was worn and they don't cover that. So they left my kitchen sink apart and won't pay to fix it. Choice said I needed to speak with the first technician about repairing the damaged they caused because it's not their responsibility. I've files three claims and paid a service fee only for my claims to be denied. They have not approved a single claim. It's a scam!

Scam! Refused to process claim. Then, when they did, denied coverage of an appliance previously serviced. When escalated, they canceled my prepaid policy with 2 years left and refused to refund or correct. The state of Arizona has filed a lawsuit against this company for fraudulent practices and they have over 7,000 BBB complaints. Scam!

This company finds ways to deny a claim. The cap for each system is shockingly low. Only by asking immediately after I enrolled did become aware of the low caps. I had to threaten to cancel all 3 policies, and only then was I provided with the option to purchase a "double cap" for my systems. If you own mid-end or above appliances, beware. Also beware of their 2 or 3 year contract term. Because of the 6month bonus on the 3 year term, the yearly term is now being defined by them as a 1year+2month term, meaning you are penalized for multi-year terms. The company denied my claim because of this fuzzy math, saying I am capped for the "year". The length of contract term was not defined in the contract nor was it explained when I purchased the 3 year plan. This is a perverse way of doing business.

This company is one giant scam. When they do pay out something to "replace" an appliance it's at a fraction of the true cost which ends up coming out of your pocket. Our stove needed a minor repair and it took 5 different appointments to finally get a repair person to come to our house after 3 weeks. He said he needed to order the part and would be back in a week. We never saw him again. I finally had to call in my own company and it cost me $80.over what Choice said they would pay. (Still waiting for the check) Tried to cancel my contract and they would not comply. Stay away from any involvement with this sketchy company.

The most useless company ever. Stay away. Keep the money in your account, when something breaks down you will at least have some money to help you with. You will not get a penny from this company no matter how legit your situation is.
Our furnace broke down during the worst winter storm in Texas history, which killed 70+ people. They told us they were going to do an investigation, which is likely going to take weeks; then they will decide to pay or not. They charge 65$ to tell you this as well.
We got it fixed ourselves; you know so our kids would not freeze to death , and called them again to see if we can get a partial reimbursement of some sort. Their staff doesn't listen to anything you say. I spoke to 4-5 different people, waiting on hold forever in between each person. They do NOT listen to you at all. it feels like speaking to a wall. They got a script and keep repeating 3 sentences over and over again.
How companies like this exist in the U.S, I will never know.
Broken refrigerator. No problem. Pay them 65$ wait at least a few weeks for someone to look into it. It may get approved; but more likely they will blame you for not maintaining it properly. Of course, you can't use your refrigerator for weeks if not more than a month.
AC or furnace broken same story. You don't need an AC in Texas summer, or a furnace in Minnesota winter for a few weeks.
Stay away. Do not throw your money into thrash. Either find a legitimate company, or keep your money in your account so you have something when you actually need it. These people are not helping you.

One word review for Choice Home Warranty; deplorable. I called in a claim for my furnace, I was asked to expect a reimbursement process they have. I worked with my mechanical contractor to submit the claim that they denied instantly. I appealed the claim, was assigned a case worker that offered me $60 for a complete oil furnace replacement. I was told they did not cover rust. CHW should try to work with their clients to cover repairs and replacements not try every angle to not cover them. I wish I read these reviews prior. I do not recommend.
