Then I just had my car towed this morning due to a flat tire, AAA dropped my car off the tow bed from 3 inches off the ground and scraped both my front and rear bumpers and my exhaust. Dude also let the front of my car drop on the ground about 3 inches while loading the car at my house and scraped the front when pulling the car back up on the bed. Tire barn luckily was looking out for me and called as soon as they dropped it off to let me know of the damage.
I have made complaint with AAA. The last two experiences I've had with AAA have been horrendous. The customer service call center is very nice and helpful (which is the only reason for 2 stars and not 1) and they will be calling me to discuss the complaint. I will update this review.
Update: I picked up my car and the damage was just underneath thank goodness. I am still not happy about how they handled my car but waiting to speak to someone about the complaint.

Does AAA offer extended car warranties?
Yes, AAA offers a type of extended warranty. The AAA extended warranty program is called the AAA Vehicle Protection Plan, and it covers the cost of repairs to the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, and brakes, among other things.
The cost of AAA's Vehicle Protection Plan varies depending on the vehicle, but it averages about around $2,400 for a 4 year plan, though vehicles with expensive parts can cost twice that.
In general, extended warranties are meant to keep drivers from paying out of pocket for sudden repairs, since mechanical problems are not covered by other types of auto insurance.
What AAA Extended Car Warranties Cover
- Engine
- Transmission
- A/C & Heating
- Drive Axle
- Cooling System
- Fuel System
- Electrical
- Suspension
- Brakes
- Steering
- Convenience Tech
Coverage details can vary depending on which AAA plan you choose. Additionally, since the AAA Vehicle Protection Plan is designed to supplement the original manufacturer's warranty, cars must meet certain requirements to qualify.
AAA Extended Warranty Eligibility Requirements
- The vehicle is less than 15 years old
- The vehicle has less than 150,000 miles
Coverage and eligibility details can vary by state. It's also worth noting that the AAA Vehicle Protection Plan is technically a vehicle service plan, which provides the same coverage as an extended warranty. However, vehicle service plans are offered by car insurance companies, whereas extended warranties are generally sold by dealerships or third-party companies. What is an alternative to AAA?
The best alternative to AAA roadside assistance is a motor club membership with Better World Club, Good Sam Club, or Allstate Motor Club. Another good alternative to AAA is purchasing a roadside assistance add-on from a traditional car insurance company, especially an insurer that offers multiple plans.
For example, insurance companies like Nationwide and Travelers offer different levels of roadside assistance coverage to choose from. Similarly, auto club competitors, including Better World Club and Good Sam Club, offer several coverage options. Drivers can find protection comparable to AAA by comparing the coverage limits of a competitor plan with their desired level of AAA membership.

AAA costs vary by region, and each level of membership comes with different benefits. Roadside assistance from an insurance company is usually less expensive than AAA, but it often provides less coverage. For instance, AAA includes benefits besides roadside assistance, like discounts with affiliated companies, identity theft monitoring, and trip interruption coverage.
It's also worth noting that AAA ranked below many competitors in WalletHub's roadside assistance study because it has a large number of unresolved customer complaints. For more information, check out WalletHub's study of the best roadside assistance plans.

Does AAA cover a locksmith for keys locked in a car?
Yes, AAA does cover a locksmith for keys locked in a car through its roadside assistance program. In addition to locksmith services, AAA roadside assistance also covers flat tire changes, winching, and jump starts, among other things.
You can get AAA roadside assistance as a policy add-on for $67 per year.
If you do not have roadside assistance, AAA won't cover a locksmith if you get locked out of your car. In that case, you will have to contact a locksmith yourself and pay for it out of pocket.
