I have had no issue with Elephant until I had to submit a claim. I had damage to a car that went unnoticed for a couple days as it was in the passenger side of my fiancées car and she just didn't notice it given that she enters the driver side. Through filing the claim, they asked for pictures through their app which were provided. I received an email about a week later stating that through their "investigation" they determined "damage to your vehicle is not consistent with being struck by an unknown vehicle while parked and unoccupied." So basically they are saying the vehicle was occupied and moving. I guess that is the PC way to call someone a liar (at least in this case). My problem is that the investigation consisted of a couple people looking at a couple pics of a black car on an overcast day. There was no "investigation". This is Elephant passing the buck. My guess is, there will be a new insurance company in my house in the near future.
They pestered and pestered me for ages saying I had penalty points. I assured them I didn't. They then tried to increase the price of my policy. I eventually had to send them a copy of my license to prove it. Lot of hassle and no trust. Not a whole lot of common sense on their admin side. Later found out they bank offshore! So they are screwing over hard-working taxpayers by not paying their fair share back in. Pretty disgusting.
In my opinion, great customer service from every area of the company, with outstanding coverage options. Equally, one of the best insurers I've ever had over the many years of auto insurance coverage or financial responsibility required. Many discounts available when starting coverage along with many future benefits and discounts as you remain a policyholder. I have also had my first claim, they were compassionate and professional completing the process within days showing me that I mattered as a valued customer.
My experience with the elephant was pleasant. Customer service and the Underwriters are cordial and fair. They are very helpful in ensuring you get taken care of and friendly. If they can't help they will lead you someone who can.

Does Elephant Insurance have full coverage?
Yes. Elephant Insurance has “full coverage” car insurance. Elephant offers collision coverage and comprehensive coverage, which customers can add to their liability insurance to form full coverage. Collision insurance pays to repair your car after hitting another car or object. Comprehensive insurance pays for damage resulting from events beyond your control happening to your car, such as theft, flooding, fire, or wild animal-related incidents.
The other main components of full coverage car insurance are bodily injury liability coverage and property damage liability coverage, which cover damages a policyholder causes to other people and property. Both forms of liability insurance are required in nearly all states, and both are available from Elephant Insurance. Similarly, Elephant offers uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage and coverage for medical payments, which are required in many states.
Full coverage car insurance from Elephant may be required if you have a car loan or lease. Additionally, if you own an antique car, you may be interested in Elephant's option to buy comprehensive coverage and liability coverage without having to purchase collision coverage, as many companies do not provide this option.
Elephant does not offer all of the optional add-on coverage choices available from competitors, however. For example, unlike some other major auto insurers, Elephant does not offer guaranteed auto protection (gap) insurance or mechanical breakdown coverage. But it does offer alternatives. Instead of gap protection, Elephant offers loan/lease payoff coverage. Instead of mechanical breakdown coverage, Elephant has partnered with YourMechanic to offer discounted prices for services such as an oil change, tire rotation, alignment, etc. Gap insurance and mechanical breakdown coverage aren't necessarily part of full coverage, though.

Does Elephant Insurance have gap insurance?
No. Elephant Insurance does not have gap insurance. Elephant offers loan/lease payoff insurance instead. Elephant's loan/lease payoff coverage works pretty much the same way as gap insurance, covering the difference between what your car is worth at the time of a total loss and what is owed on the loan or lease. Specifically, Elephant loan/lease payoff insurance covers the remaining loan or lease balance after your comprehensive or collision insurance has paid the actual cash value (ACV) of your vehicle, and after you have paid your deductible.
The ACV of your car is the vehicle's depreciated value, which might be less than what you owe on your lease or loan. Typically, loan/lease payoff coverage only pays a percentage of this “negative equity,” but this is not the case with Elephant.
The main difference between traditional gap insurance and Elephant's loan/lease payoff coverage is that gap insurance typically must be purchased within 30 days of buying a new (or new-to-you) vehicle. Loan/lease payoff coverage from Elephant Insurance can be added to your policy at any time, but there may be some limits on how old your car can be to qualify.
How can I get a car insurance refund from Elephant?
To get a car insurance refund from Elephant, cancel your Elephant insurance policy, then wait 7-20 days for a refund of your remaining premium, prorated based on the amount of the policy that will go unused. If you originally paid by credit card, you will receive your refund within 7-10 business days. If you paid by checking/ACH, the refund can take up to 20 days.
To cancel your policy, log in to your account online and use the chat feature, or call Elephant customer service at 877-321-2095 to speak with a representative over the phone. Elephant says it always honors refund requests and does not charge a cancellation fee.
To avoid a coverage lapse, which can lead to higher premiums in the future, make sure to get a new policy before canceling your Elephant car insurance.
Does Elephant offer short term car insurance?
No. Elephant does not offer short-term car insurance. The shortest policy periods that Elephant offers for car insurance are six months, and they're currently available only in Texas and Virginia. Everywhere else, Elephant auto insurance policies last 12 months. Elephant Insurance does not offer pay-per-mile or low-mileage policies, either.

Can I get an Elephant insurance plan that will cover my personal car as well as a rental?
You can get an Elephant insurance plan that will cover your personal car as well as a rental. In addition to the basic coverage, Elephant Insurance allows you to purchase additional coverages, including rental car insurance. However, there's a good chance you may already be covered for this with the policy you have on your own car. Make sure you give Elephant Insurance a call at 1-877-218-7865, and they will be able to tell you whether rental car coverage is part of your package, and can provide you with a quote if it's not.
