After getting rear ended GEICO told me the damage caused **in the exact spot my car was hit** was not caused by the accident and refused to pay repairs. Also, they will and legally can refuse to pay a body shop's prices and charge you the difference. I do not know how their business is legal, but the cheaper prices you get by switching is not worth it even a little bit if you get in any kind of accident.
However, when I purchased a home in NC and retained Geico to provide my homeowner's insurance, the problems started. Geico assumed my car was going to NC with me and moved my car insurance to NC. Honest mistake, however, I split my time between NC and CA, and my car was remaining in CA. It would've been nice to pay 50% less for car insurance, but I also didn't want to commit insurance fraud. So, I called Geico. They told me the issue had been fixed.
Then I got a notice from the CA DMV saying my registration would be cancelled because I couldn't show proof of insurance in CA. I called Geico again. Again, I was told the issue had been fixed, but I would have to pay the difference in the two policies going back three months. I asked for it to be spread out across the 6 mos term. I was told that wasn't a problem and that the amount due would be updated in the app shortly. It had been sent to a manager named "Kevin" for approval. "Kevin" was out on vacation, but I was assured he would approve it when he came back the following week.
The amount never updated. I called again. I spoke to a supervisor. I was told it was fixed again. Then, I got a notice in the app saying my insurance would be cancelled. I called again on a Tuesday - again, I spoke with a supervisor named Jessica. I was told it would be fixed "by Thursday". Are we sensing a trend here? Today is Friday - the day my policy is supposed to cancel. I had to call back...again. And I had to talk to a supervisor...again - Ivy, this time. She took my monthly payment and said the reason my payment plan hadn't been approved and updated was because I missed my May 21st payment. However, I couldn't pay my May 21st payment because it wasn't updated in the app as promised by "Kevin." Nobody called me or emailed me, nobody sent me a message in the app; there was zero communication with me from Geico's side to let me know. I have now spent a total of 4.5 hours on this mess. I figure at this point Geico owes me about $261 for my time. Also, minor, but I was told by two people my monthly payment would be $158.23, and I was told by two other people it would be 4162.94. It's four dollars, but just another illustration of the lack of consistency.
Basically, this has been a huge circle jerk, with the left hand not talking to the right. I have never missed a payment before this, I have never even been late. This whole mess was caused by Geico making some assumptions in the first place and was perpetuated by their horrible internal communication. I am shopping around for new homeowners and auto insurance.
I can't imagine the mess that would happen if I got in an accident and had to make a claim. I'd have to quit my job to manage the claims process. In 2022 with all the CMRs, inner-company DM systems, apps, email, etc. a lack of follow up and follow through like this is pretty horrible. 10/10 do not recommend Geico.
what I believed was a Geico Home Ins.
It was the worst mistake ever. Policy is
literally double the cost with Sagesure
who I've never heard of. My deductible
is $11,150.00 because of my community.
They send letters of cancellation even
after you confirm no payment due. Yes
they are kind of the phone it is just not
enough. Feeling very down now in NYC.
The appraiser called us Friday night, past 6pm, on Memorial Day holiday weekend to tell us we need to turn in our rental Saturday morning. When I confronted Randy about the incident in our driveway he starts shouting me down so my wife grabs the phone and he starts shouting her down because we were asking legitimate question like, "Why did you wait so long to process this and why were you so rude when you came to our house and why are you shouting us down right now". Randy didn't have any answers, and attempted to refute what we saw with our own eyes (RING CAMERA) and experienced first hand. Extremely unprofessional.
I called Geico immediately following that call and we were given the run around and told we can contact his supervisor directly, which we've already done. I assumed Geico would have a complaint department to handle these things, but based on how our claim went, we, as a paying customer, have been doing all the leg work for this claim. Geico is no different than any other insurance agency when their customer service is at this level. My family has been a Geico customer for over 5+ years and paid them thousands of dollars only to be treated like we are idiots and had to do all the calling around to make sure our vehicle was fixed (still isn't).
The rental car was delayed so we had to scramble for another family vehicle and then we received a small mustang and we have a big family so we spent time having to trade that out. Just stay away from Geico. We are changing policies because of this experience and if Geico reads this reviews, I'd love to actually give more details and provide video evidence and timelines so further shore up this complaint.

These policies provide coverage for damage caused by fire, severe weather, theft, and other “perils,” as they're called in the insurance industry.

How do I cancel Geico insurance?
To cancel a Geico insurance policy, the policyholder must call Geico to speak directly with a customer service agent. Customers cannot cancel their policies online or through the Geico mobile app. You may cancel your Geico insurance policy at any time. The cancellation can be made effective immediately or set for a future date. Geico does not charge a cancellation fee.
How To Cancel Your Geico Policy
There are a few easy steps to cancel your Geico insurance policy by phone. First, get your Geico policy number ready. Next, call Geico at 1-800-841-1587. When you are prompted by the interactive voice response system, say “cancel insurance policy” and then “auto,” if you're canceling your car insurance policy. Finally, you will be connected to a customer service agent, who will walk you through the cancellation process.
Before the cancellation is complete, you must pay off any remaining balance on your account. If you've already paid your entire premium for the policy period in full, Geico will refund the unused portion.
Things To Consider Before You Cancel Your Geico Policy
Keep in mind that you do not have to cancel your policy just because you're going through some life changes. For example, if you've moved or replaced your current vehicle, Geico can simply update the mailing address or vehicle information on your policy. Geico also allows military members to suspend their policy temporarily if their vehicle will be left unused and in storage for more than 30 days.
On the other hand, if you wish to cancel because you're switching to another auto insurance carrier, be sure to obtain a new policy before canceling your current one. This helps to prevent a lapse in coverage, which could potentially lead to higher premiums down the road.
Does Geico offer gap insurance?
No, Geico does not offer gap insurance. Unlike seven of the top 10 car insurance companies, Geico does not sell gap insurance, a specialty type of coverage that pays for the difference between a totaled car's value and the driver's loan or lease balance.
You have several options if you're a current Geico customer and are looking for gap insurance. You could switch insurers and purchase a policy from a company that does offer gap insurance (or loan/lease payoff coverage, which is similar), like Nationwide or Progressive. You could also maintain your policy with Geico and purchase gap insurance from a dealership or a stand-alone company. However, it's worth noting that dealership gap insurance is often the most expensive option, since it's usually rolled into your loan and charged interest.

How does Geico RV insurance work?
Geico RV insurance includes liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage, similar to Geico car insurance. However, since an RV is really a combination of a vehicle and a home, Geico offers an enhanced coverage policy for property losses and special problems RV owners can face on the road.
Enhanced RV coverage is currently available in all states except Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, and North Carolina.
Geico Enhanced RV Policy Coverage
- Total loss replacement provides a new, similar RV if your RV is totaled and is less than 4 years old. If your RV is older, you'll receive the original price or actual cash value at the time of loss.
- Replacement cost for personal effects covers items inside your RV, including valuables you take with you and major equipment such as refrigerators or generators.
- Vacation liability covers injuries or property damage that happens to you or others at your RV vacation site.
- Emergency expense coverage pays for hotels and transportation when something happens to your RV.
- RV medical payments coverage pays for medical treatment after an accident, no matter who was at fault.
Other Key Things to Know About Geico RV Insurance
Geico's basic and enhanced RV insurance policies cover large motorhomes, van campers, and mini motor homes, as well as all types of towable travel trailers.
Premiums vary significantly based on an RV owner's state of residence and the size, age, and value of the RV. Geico, as well as other insurers, also factors in frequency of use, the value of an RV's contents, and the owner's driving record.
You can get an RV insurance quote from Geico's website. You also can call Geico RV insurance specialists at 1-877-GEICO-RV (434-2678).
What is Geico's umbrella insurance policy?
Geico's umbrella insurance policy will cover claims that are beyond the financial limits or scope of your existing policies. It can add up to $1 million in additional liability coverage to car, boat, homeowners or professional insurance policies.
The average cost of a $1 million policy is less than $300 per year. If you can take advantage of Geico's multi-policy discount, or other discounts that you might be eligible for, you could bring the annual cost down to $100 or less.
Why Geico Umbrella Insurance Is Worth It
The Geico umbrella policy's additional liability coverage can protect you from a serious financial hit. If you injure someone or damage their property, your liability insurance pays the claim up to the limit written in your policy. But if the loss exceeds the limit and you don't have umbrella coverage, you'll have to pay the rest yourself.
For example, if someone gets hurt falling down your porch steps and wins a claim against you for $800,000, and your homeowners liability limit is $300,000, you may have to pay $500,000 out of your pocket. If you have Geico umbrella insurance, however, the policy would cover the difference.
Other Risks Covered by Geico Umbrella Insurance
Geico's umbrella insurance also covers your defense costs in case of a lawsuit and pays for many kinds of damages other policies don't. Examples include mental anguish, injuries caused by a pet, libel, injuries on a rental property, or even false arrest by a police officer.
Geico umbrella insurance offers generous coverage at a relatively low cost. You can get a personalized quote at (866) 272-5192 or on the Geico website.
