My husband and I receive car and renter's insurance from Meemic. We used to have AAA, but they were very overpriced compared to Meemic for the same services. They have always been helpful and organized when we needed help and when we had any questions about our payments. It is also awesome that Meemic is geared toward the teaching community (because I am a teacher!!) and you can receive grants for your classroom. We have never had any issues with Meemic and I recommend them to anyone who is looking to switch their insurance! :)

I think their premiums and customer service are wonderful until you make claims, once you filed a claim everything begins to change.....customer service is rude, they begin to investigate your claim, they sent you intimidating letters, they humiliate you as customer.... No matter how many years you have been with them. They are in the business of COLLECTING PREMIUMS and DENYING BENEFITS

We were members of the Gordon Group Meemic Agency for over 30 years and have recently changed to a new insurance provider for our 5 cars and home owners insurance. The reason we changed insurance companies was because of the poor customer service we received and increased rates. Being loyal members for over 30 years we were hopeful that Meemic would work with us in trying to lower our auto insurance bill, which consistently increased over the years. Instead when we called to discuss our rates, our concerns were dismissed and not addressed. I personally went into the office and left feeling demeaned and disappointed because Barb talked down to me and threatened to increase our bill in a few months when she was going “to revisit” our account. I went into the office hoping she could help lower our rates and try to work with us so we could stay with Meemic. However, it was very obvious that she wasn’t willing to work with us. For example, when I asked about discounts she said she was already giving us all the discounts she could. Then when I told her that I was checking around and another company was going to give my daughter a Good Student Discount, she replied, “Oh, that would only save about $8.” The point is, she did not try to work with us. She did not care that we were seeking out other quotes. It was the worst customer service I have ever received! Your website states that “customer satisfaction is our priority” and that you have a “97% customer satisfaction rating”. I am currently telling all my family and friends, including my teaching colleagues, how poorly I was treated after 30 years of being a customer. I am also posting on social media, not only the poor customer service I received, but also about our new insurance carrier and encouraging them to switch. Our new insurance carrier is saving us over $1600 a year in auto insurance and over $300 a year in house insurance!!! You let a loyal customer of over 30 years walk away and did absolutely NOTHING to try to keep us. This tells us how unimportant we were as customers. To say we are disappointed is a HUGE understatement. However, we are very happy with our new agent and our new rates. Your loss.

I started with (238.25 $/monthly) for a 2016 altima, because my drivers license was < 3 years old, 1000 $ deductible (Including a dicount from my employer). 1 year later, my increased it to (380.08$/month = 4560$/year= 58% imcrease) because i had 4 points due to a no damage accident. No informed consent including the price was obtained before renewing my contract. The management didnt agree to negotiate at all, and never answered my second request to negotiate. BTW meemic had the 2nd lowest percentage of premiums on claims in michigan according to the DIFS michigan department of insurance and finance. You are the judge.

Well, where to begin? I suppose I should begin by telling my story from the cushy comfort of my hotel room from where I have been stationed for almost 3 months for a simple claim resulting from damage inside my home. Three months in a hotel must be quite a bit of damage you wonder? No, this claim could have been resolved and the job complete in a mere 2 weeks. But seeing as the claims adjuster admitted to calling us the Bermuda Triangle as they have lost or ignored or misplaced or forgotten us (even when the thousands x a lot hotel bill arrived every 2 weeks under our door), we are still "sitting pretty" with no result in site. Oh yes, we will give you an amount that has so many discrepancies, when they sent an independent contractor out to remeasure an assess, lo and behold, the measurements were wrong and the repair estimates were miscalculated, Each "error" resulted in multiple weeks before I again logged back in to my phone, email, and texts to remind them that while staying in a hotel is nice and dandy, I'm sure it will cost ME the CONSUMER a lot in the end. (Fingers drumming.) Still waiting for that final check. Contractors have long gone on to the other jobs. I have critters and cold air pouring into my house. Do you hear me now MEEMIC?

My homeowners annual premium jumped from$ 904 per annum in 2015 to $2358 an increase of $1454 .The reason for the increase I made two claims for $1000.I have been with Meemic for decades and the home owners group since their inceptionThis increase for two claims is criminal.. This is the response from my agent Brad Brochue There are no mistakes on the renewal offer that was sent from Meemic. The rate change came from your 2 claims that Meemic had paid out on 9/15/2014 and 6/2/2015. The first claim caused you to lose the claims free discount and the second claim caused a claims surcharge to be added to the premium. We can help by offering different deductibles options to help lower the rate increase if you are interested

It can be very frustrating to understand how insurance premiums are calculated. But it is standard in the insurance industry that when a claim is filed (no matter how small the claim), you often lose your "claim free" discount, as you are no longer claim free. Multiple claims can and most often due result in a surcharge. This would have occurred with most companies.

I would like to write a review. However, the numerous hoops a local agent is requiring us to jump through just to get a quote makes writing a review difficult when a person can't even get a quote. A co-worker worker recommended Meemic for their excellent rates but I can't even get a simple quote.

As with any insurance company, things can vary from agent to agent, as they are all running their own business. I am sure if you reached out to another local agent you would find one that can provide you with good service.

Right now we have an oak tree blown over and broken by a wind storm poised to land on the house but until it actually falls on the house, the extra tree coverage we have paid for for the past 15 years is of no use. This is stupid and we are about to unass this company as soon as we can. We have never had a claim, we take very good care of our property so to be told no we can't help you until the tree is on the ground is unbelievable. I would not purchase anything from this company. Find a more reputable company that actually sells you something you can use.

I have been a meemic customer most of my adult life. I was involved in a severe car accident in 1998 damaging my left knee. I had 2 surgeries to correct the problem. A couple of years later when Tylenol was not controlling the pain I asked my internal medicine doctor if she would proscribe something stronger and she did. It helped tremendously. I have 2 degrees in nursing and am aware of the pitfalls of opiates. This year she asked me to see an orthopedic physician for a firm diagnosis. I did. I obtained a claim number from meemic and proceeded with an appointment with the original surgeon, well regarded in his field. He ordered an xray, MRI, and a script-topical ointment and an injection. This was this summer. I was sent by meemic to an independent medical exam by an ortho doctor who spent 3 minutes with me and 4 minutes in his office I assume looking at the xray and MRI on DVD. Today November 9th after leaving numerous calls with claims rep which were unanswered, I was finally able to talk to him. Decisions problems due to aging and both knees involved. Wrong this has been a consistent problem since the accident and only one knee is involved. This is not the meemic of old. My advice is file the claim and get an attorney. Meemic only cares about the bottom line not about its customers...

I give them 2 stars just because they are nice to you (1.5 was not an option).
You will find delaying seems to be a tactic for them helping you to realize they will not be paying out for damages.
In my case the iPhone pics I provided in which one pic showing both cars in the accident was deemed by them to be my fault since 1.) I was driving the car at the time of the accident. And so this is the interesting part... the pic clearly shows no one is behind the wheel of my car. 2.) Is my fault since the same pic shows brake lights are on for my car and so again the car is not parked and I am behind the wheel holding down the brake. Defer back to #1 and then become vary wary of Meemic when you hear that, and again it can clearly be seen, that the flash from my iPhone is causing my tail light in the foreground to look lit up brightly. And so this is again the interesting part... the pic also shows the other car's tail light in the back ground having the same identical camera flash brightness. However, the other person is in this same pic and I am taking the pic. So, are we also both simultaneously in our cars holding down the brakes while participating in the picture taking? My 8th grader figured it out and I know your 8th grader could, as well. And yet... Meemic's decision was to reject my claim after many many weeks of so called review and consulting by other agent professionals at Meemic. Of, course as you would have guessed... the other pics I took clearly show my car parked and damaged by the other car and Meemic does not question them. But yet, rejects the claim based on one pic they seemly can stretch for the truth. I did look into litigation from a lawyer service my employer provides but, while the lawyer's consultation was included, to litigate would cost more than the damages. And… this is the part that should wrench your stomach... the provided estimate for repairs was only $800.00. Image what Meemic will do for higher claim amounts????
Run now… even before you talk to them. Remember, I did give them 2 stars because they actually do talk nice and act sympathetic as if they are your own brother or sister.
