My concern is that my car was not damaged that bad and most of the work the body shop billed was either unnecessary or they haven't even done the job. I am so upset that this goes on my record that the collision was so severe that it cost my insurance company almost $8000 and of course my $1000 deductible which I have paid them cash. I am not even sure about at least 1 photo the body shop provided it did belong to my car (I might be wrong). But when I asked the adjustor he replied " we do have appraiser review the shop estimate and we approve what is necessary so It wasn’t a situation where we overpaid the shop, if the shop requested for us to repair components that didn’t need to be repaired we would have told the shop no". when I asked him "so in your opinion the hood needed to get replaced" he did not reply. When I emailed the appraiser, he never replied back. So disappointed!

We got hit with two hurricanes in 2020. Our home was unlivable for several months and National General provided us with a place to stay as well as basic home necessities. Once our repairs started, our contractor found several other issues with our home that was not in found in the first damage inspection. Our contractor submitted two supplemental payments that were quickly approved. I couldn’t be more grateful for them. We have heard absolute horror stories from other homeowners in our community. A lot of people in our community are still displaced. Thanks to National General we were one of the first ones, with major damage, that was able to move back home because they were quick and efficient with our insurance claims. If you live in the south and are at a risk for hurricanes, I would 100% recommend National General.

WORST INSURANCE EVER - THEY DO NOT DESERVE ONE STAR!!!! They do not communicate well with the policyholder at all or the third party holder. We first had our policy accepted in 10/2020 and every week they wanted me to resign paperwork.... then they cancel the policy 3 months later sending a partial refund without me knowing in advance giving me a chance to shop around. Once I call to speak with the underwriter who canceled the policy they refused to talk to me to give me a valid explanation. The only thing upper management said is they are sorry but they can not reinstate our policy due to the roof being old! Although the inspector reported it is not a hazard and still has time to be done. I have even expressed that we are trying to get an appointment booked to have it redone in the spring 2021, but due to covid things are already booked and they still could not do anything for me! Now here I am having to pay more for the mortgage because I have to pay more elsewhere which could have been avoided had they done their JOB RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND HAVE ALL DUCKS IN A ROW!!!!!

National General is not worth the premiums. This insurance doesn't cover anything, you have to jump through hoops to get them to approve anything medically necessary and supposed to be covered. Once they approve it, they still don't pay and let it sit with a third party "review" until either your provider sends it to collections or you pay it in full yourself. You are better off saving the money on the premium, putting it in a savings account and using Care Credit. They "imply coverage" when speaking with an agent, then the policy is different. Its not worth the money. I had two policies in 2019, costing about $1k/month for the family, after paying NGIC $12k, I still ended up paying another $8k while they covered about $1200. They switched us to a two year policy in 2020, this cost a bit more and covered even less. I ended up canceling the policy and they still took $240 in LIFE membership fees for 2020 despite numerous calls to cancel it. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

They really suck My policy was cancelled due to proof of residency even though two pictures of mail from social security administration were sent. Was told the pictures were blurry. Really I received mail from them and my current address is listed on my driver's license which a picture of that was sent when I started the policy. I will look elsewhere for auto insurance. This company is a joke-not funny. Don't waste your time. I'm sorry I did. I had been making on time payments for this policy for two months. This company is full of it.

DO NOT BUY THEIR ACCIDENT/CRITICAL ILLNESS -- IT'S A TOTAL SCAM!!!! They only pay a small portion of the promised "$10,000." I feel like such an idiot, i bought this to cover my $5,000 deductible. They didn't come close to covering it with my accident. They paid less than I have paid in premiums all this time, could have put that money in a savings account. Boy do i feel stupid, don't be me, avoid this company like the plague.

DO NOT USE this company to insure your home. My father in law used them for MANY YEARS and after his death, there was a claim submitted and they have denied, denied, denied! It was a flood from the hot water heater and they REFUSED to reimburse ANY money for the loss! After 40++ years of EXTREMELY high premiums, I will see to it that NO ONE I know will get ripped off by this SHAM of a company!!

After several attempts to reach my agent I was told that he quit the company. I then reached out to National General directly. I asked them to move my insurance from the Corvette I just sold to the used Camaro I just bought. The person at NG told me my premium would go up by $27 per six months. I had just paid my premium of $560 and immediately paid the additional $27. 2 weeks later I received bills in the mail for 2 additional payments of $27 plus $356. My new 6-month premium for a used Camaro that is paid off, and a spotless driving record is now $970. Almost $2000 a year!
I was abandoned by my agency, lied to by NG and totally cheated on my premium! I have 5 days to pay up the balance on a bill I had no idea was coming! Enjoy your premium, you will not be getting any more!!!

Our NG health insurance agent was very personable. Rates were very reasonable so we signed on a few years ago. Starting feeling uneasy about the customer service center asking if I listened to the recording at the beginning of contacting them. Which basically states they have no idea or are not responsible for what you went over with your agent. They have no clue. They have very limited information about your account, no details if you review your policy. They say to contact your agent everytime. Every other health insurance company provides some kind of details at customer service. Last time I went to the oral surgeon, the clinic said they called with my info & policy number and NG couldn't even find my account. Been paying for nothing...cancelled.

Yes. National General offers non-owner car insurance for drivers who don't own a car but still need to be insured. Non-owner car insurance from National General is liability-only coverage, which means it only pays for bodily injuries and property damage suffered by the other driver in an accident for which you were at fault. Non-owner car insurance does not pay for your injuries or those of your passengers, and it won't cover damage to the vehicle you were driving, either.
Normally, most of the cost of car insurance goes to covering the vehicle. Because a National General non-owner policy only covers you, not the vehicles you drive, premiums are lower than on a standard policy. Your individual quote will mostly depend on your driving record, but the average cost of non-owner car insurance is about $480 per year nationwide.
To find out how much you would pay for non-owner car insurance from National General, call 1 (800) 462-2123 to get a free quote. It's definitely worth exploring for many drivers. After all, there are numerous situations where non-owner car insurance could be helpful. You should consider non-owner car insurance from National General if you:
Drive frequently but do not own a car
Rent cars regularly
Use car sharing services, such as Zipcar, often
Need to get or reinstate your license
Need to file an SR-22 form, despite not owning a car
National General is cheap for responsible payers because it offers discounts like paid-in-full, paperless, and autopay discounts. But there are other insurance companies that might be cheaper than National General overall.
National General wasn't among the 10 cheapest car insurance companies in our review, but it does offer a variety of discounts, like discounts for being a safe driver, having a low annual mileage, and being affiliated with certain organizations. Plus, National General rewards customer loyalty with discounts for insuring more than one car or bundling multiple policies, To get a personalized quote from National General, you can speak to a representative by calling 1 (800) 462-2123.
Although some drivers can find cheap auto insurance from National General, the only way to confirm you've found the lowest price is to compare quotes from multiple insurance companies. Your final premium is based on a variety of factors, like your driving record, insurance history, the type of car you drive, and more, and all insurance companies can't offer the same rates.
To cancel National General insurance, the policyholder must contact a representative by calling 1-888-293-5108 or cancel in person with a local agent. The cancellation can be arranged for a future date or set to take effect immediately. You will need your name, policy number, and the date you want your policy to end.
How to Cancel National General Insurance Policies
Cancel by phone by calling 1-888-293-5108.
Cancel in person by taking your name, policy number, and the date you want your policy to end to your local National General agent.
You cannot cancel a National General insurance policy online.
If you've already paid your premium for the policy period in full, National General will refund the unused portion. National General does not impose a cancellation fee or penalty for early termination.
It's important to remember that you don't need to cancel your policy just because you're going through some life changes. For example, you should have National General update your mailing address or vehicle information if you're moving or buying a new car.
If you're canceling your current policy in order to switch to another company, be sure to activate your new policy before canceling the old one. This prevents a lapse in coverage, which would lead to higher premiums in the future.
Yes. National General offers rental car insurance. National General rental car insurance is usually included in a driver's personal car insurance policy if the driver carries liability, comprehensive, or collision coverage and is driving in the U.S. Each policy is unique, though, and there may be certain exclusions based on your specific situation. It's very important to confirm the details of your policy by calling customer service at 1 (800) 462-2123 before declining additional coverage at the rental counter.
National General also offers rental car reimbursement, which helps pay for the cost of a rental car while your personal vehicle is being repaired for a covered claim. If you add rental reimbursement to your policy, your insurance company will pay a fixed amount per day toward the cost of your rental, up to a maximum per-claim limit. You select specific rental car reimbursement limits when you purchase the add-on. For example, if you choose $25 per day/$500 per loss as your rental reimbursement limits, National General will pay up to $25 per day, but no more than $500 per claim for your rental. Rental reimbursement coverage costs between $2 and $15 per month, on average, but you'll need to call customer service to get a personalized quote and add this coverage to your policy.
National General Rental Car Insurance Coverage Limits
The same National General coverage limits that apply to your personal vehicle will also apply to a rental car. If you only carry liability insurance, National General will pay for the other driver's injuries and property damage after an at-fault accident—but not physical damage to the rental. You need a full-coverage policy to have damage to the rental car covered by your insurer.
If you rent a car similar in value to your personal vehicle, you probably have enough insurance. But if your personal vehicle is a 15-year-old sedan and you decide to rent a 2021 luxury car, you should look into extra coverage. That's because the limits you've chosen for your personal policy may not be sufficient to cover damage to a more expensive rental car.
One option to make up for insufficient coverage when renting a car is to get a collision damage waiver (CDW) from the rental counter, which leaves the rental company responsible if the car is damaged, vandalized, or stolen. In addition to a CDW, rental car companies offer a few other types of insurance if you don't have enough coverage with your National General policy. These include supplemental liability protection, personal accident insurance, and personal effects coverage.
The insurance offered by the rental company often duplicates coverage drivers already have through health, life, and auto insurance. You may also have rental insurance from your credit card company, which is nullified if you purchase the rental company's coverage.
Please note that GMAC Insurance has changed its name to National General Insurance. The company does provide regular car insurance. Please find more details here: https://www.nationalgeneral.com/auto-insurance/.
