This year has been catastrophic for those of us who live near coastal areas. Rainfall and thunderstorms were at an all time high. My family was one of many to lose our house due to severe water damage to the foundation and walls. Thankfully the house was fully insured by New Jersey Skylands Insurance. We were forced to put the family up at a motel for a few weeks while the claims adjuster took his sweet time in getting to our house. The wait was definitely worth it. My house had been entirely paid off and had quite some equity. So the reimbursement amount was slightly more than the actual property value. All in all I’m glad I was insured by New Jersey Skylands otherwise my family would be living on the streets.
