The Citizens Bank Personal Loan may no longer be available to new applicants or we may no longer be able to obtain complete information related to this offer.
Citizens Bank Personal Loan Review
Citizens Bank offers personal loans with no fees and a relatively low APR, at 6.79% to 20.88%. These loans are best for people with fair-to-good credit, as people with excellent credit will be able to find slightly lower minimum rates elsewhere. Citizens Bank’s minimum credit score for personal loans is 680, which is just before the start of the good credit range. Another positive quality of Citizens Bank personal loans is that it’s possible to apply with a co-applicant, something many lenders don’t allow. While Citizens Bank only has branches in 11 states, that won’t stop people in other states from qualifying for a loan. Citizens Bank has a national lending division called “Citizens One” with the same terms on personal loans. Citizens Bank Personal Loan Review Highlights: • Citizens Bank personal loan rates: 6.79% to 20.88% • Loan amounts: $5,000 to $15,000 • Payoff timeline: 36 to 84 months • Time for approval: 1 to 10 business days • Time for funding: 3 to 6 business days • Fees: None • Credit score required: 680 • Other requirements: 18+ years old, U.S. citizen or permanent resident, SSN • Co-applicants: Allowed Citizens Bank personal loans offer many benefits with few drawbacks. Got my Xbox thanks to Citizen One. Thank you! Great customer service, good company to deal with. If I ever need to finance anything with CitizensOne I would not think about it, I can’t same the same for other lenders, like Synchrony.

Citizens Bank is the most unfair bank and has no rhyme or reason for why they make the decisions that they make in regards to credit worthiness.
I opened a savings account, but the site would not allow me to transfer funds in. I tried again with a different browser and again the next day. Did not work. I contacted their online chat and spent a half an hour getting messages back about 4 minutes after I asked them. Then they could not send me a text to confirm my identity. They tried twice. I spent another twenty five minutes on hold waiting to speak to someone. They asked for the full account number, meanwhile their site stopped working. Then they asked for my full SSN, which I refused. After another ten minutes I was finally was able to close my account. I will say the gentleman was very pleasant. But a complete waste of about 2 hours of my time opening and closing an account. Their site is not trustworthy, and their customer service, which is only online b/c this is a fully online "bank" is abysmal. I wouldn't open an account here if the rates were one thousand times the national average.
Used them to sell home to my daughter was the worst experience ever my daughter had great credit and a good job they held it against us cause she rented from and works full time for me we have a family business and as a father it’s your duty to help your children all they did was hold it against us made us feel like we were trying to something scandalous had jump through multiple hoops in order to close deal
Great company to work with interest regarding my vivint security system. The sales person was excellent and enjoyed the conversation.

Citizens Bank floods me with Pre-Screened offers. I have many cards, but I finally applied. I have only excellent credit, and lots of it. Still, I got a letter today that my application was denied because they couldn't verify information with the credit bureaus. This is nonsense, every other bank from my 25 credit cards were all able to verify the same information without issue. Now I have a pointless hard pull on my credit report because this Bank is inept. If they send you a prescreened offer, BEWARE. There is a reason why Citizens Bank has wildly bad reviews all across the web.
I am so fed up with them. I have a student account and it had plenty of benefits when i signed up, but I travel and when I’m traveling their ‘travel notice’ means nothing and half the time they flag it as fraud. On top of that when they do flag, every little purchase, as fraud it takes them HOURS to pick up the phone on their customer service lines. Oh and don’t bother asking for a call back, they’ll call but no one will be on the other end and you’ll sit there for hours in silence. I am done with this horrendous bank.
I’ve been with Citizens Bank for over 40 years. But now, I’m leaving them, because incompetence appears to be the rule. Their customer service lines are worthless and, when you do connect, they will lie to you.
And no matter when you call, you will be told that “wait times are longer than normal. So I can only assume that the term “normal” refers to “in the past.”
In illustration of their behavior:
On 5/2/23, I noticed a debit charge on my account, from Amazon, for Amazon Prime service, which I don’t subscribe to. Since I have seen erroneous charges in the past that resolve in a day or so, I made the mistake of calling customer service and asking the representative to investigate the charge, and to freeze the card, just in case it was more than just a mischarge. He said that to investigate, they would have to cancel my card. I finally gave permission, and he said that a new card would be sent. When the card never arrived, I called again, and it turned out that he did nothing. No new cord was ordered and no investigation was initiated.
On 5/5, when I called to check on the status of the investigation, I learned that nothing was being done, and was told that my replacement card would be sent out on an emergency basis, and would take 2 “working days” to arrive. In the past, the new card would appear overnight. But today, 2 working days means weekdays, so, my card, ordered on Friday, might arrive on Tuesday, 5/9.
But of course it didn’t. And today, when I called to find out why, I was told that it had NOT been sent on an emergency basis, and so would arrive in 3 to 5 “working days.” So, in reality, that probably means Friday.
So...the first person lied. And did not do his job. The second person lied. And the latest. She said she would “initiate an investigation.” You can guess how much confidence I have in that happening.
So of course, after more than 40 years of being a customer, I’ve had enough, and will be leaving them.
The best Citizens Bank business credit card is the Citizens Bank Everyday Points® Business Mastercard® because it offers 3 points per $1 spent on all purchases and has a $0 annual fee. New cardholders can also get 50,000 points after spending $5,000 in the first 90 days. However, this isn't your only option.
While the Citizens Bank business credit cards have decent terms, they're not the best offers on the market. Check out WalletHub's picks for the best business credit cards available right now.

Yes, you can refinance a Citizens Bank personal loan using either a new personal loan or a balance transfer credit card from a different lender. By paying off your remaining Citizens Bank balance with a new, lower-interest loan or credit card, you will shift what you owe to the new lender and save money on finance charges.
How to Refinance a Loan from Citizens Bank With a New Loan
Check your credit score. Checking your credit helps you see if you're able to get approved with the score you have or if you need to spend some time improving it. You can check your credit score for free on WalletHub.
Get pre-qualified (if possible). Pre-qualifying shows you which lenders may approve you and what rates may be available to you. You can pre-qualify with multiple lenders for free on WalletHub.
Apply for the new loan. You can apply for the loan online, in person or over the phone. You'll need to give the lender some personal information when you apply, like your name, address and date of birth. The lender will also need some financial information, like your employment status and income.
Wait for funds. You should get your loan within a few business days of being approved. The lender will either write you a paper check or do a bank transfer.
Pay off the old loan. Once you receive the money, you'll need to pay off the old loan.
Repay the new loan. After the old loan is paid off, you'll then need to repay the new loan. This could take a few months or years to do.
Refinancing a Loan from Citizens Bank With a Balance Transfer
The biggest difference between using a balance transfer credit card and a personal loan for refinancing is that many cards offer 0% introductory APRs. If you can pay off your loan before the introductory period ends, you won't have to pay interest.
You should refinance a personal loan from Citizens Bank if it saves you money. Ideally, your new loan or credit card should have a lower APR than your old loan. You can qualify for a lower APR if your credit score and overall financial situation are better than when you got the first loan.
Finally, it's worth noting that Citizens Bank does not offer personal loan refinancing services for its own loans. In other words, you can't use a Citizens Bank loan to pay off another Citizens Bank loan and get a lower interest rate in the process.
You can check your Citizens Bank credit card application status by calling customer service at (877) 525-9248. When you call, you'll need to provide your Social Security Number so that Citizens Bank can match you to your application. It should only take a few minutes to find out whether your application is approved, denied, or pending. You cannot check your Citizens Bank credit card application status online.
How to Check Your Citizens Bank Credit Card Application Status
Press “3” and you will be connected to a representative.
Give your Social Security Number when asked.
A customer service representative will tell you if your application is pending, approved, or denied.
