The only thing this bank is interested in is making and keeping any and all monies it can earn from its customers deposits. Don’t waste your time applying for any type of loan from this bank. Their underwriters are “good old boys” living in the dark ages and some of the worst I have ever dealt with. The only thing they look at is whether or not your credit report shows a lot of debt and regular payments. Feeding me your policy line this and policy line that nonsense yesterday now has me looking at other banks to move my accounts to. I guess the underwriter I spoke to yesterday thought he was talking to a dumb, 65 year old woman who knows zip about loans, underwriting, or “frozen” savings accounts or CD’s with crappy interest rates compared to other banks. You are are dead wrong sir! My credit report won’t show any of that because 1) I have paid cash for most everything and have for the last 2 years simply because 1) my business, which is now well worth 4x more than I was seeking to borrow, has allowed me to do so, and 2) the corruption amongst financial institutions and credit card companies is out of control. They are only interested in keeping people in debt with their high interest rates. No thank you! I am also very well aware of the powers underwriters have. It must be awfully boring to sit behind a desk all day saying “declined.” In a few more months I WON’T be depositing the next $40k into my current CNB account. In fact, I will be asking for the check to be cashed and will expect that $40k to be available to me in cash. My intent is to find a better bank to do business with and open a new account to move all my monies to.
I was a customer of City National Bank for many years. I always paid my bills on time and never had any problems. Then, one day, I got a call from them out of the blue. They said that I owed them money and if I didn't pay up, they would take legal action against me. I was shocked and asked them what the money was for. They said it was for "unpaid fees." I told them I had never been late on a payment or owed any fees, but they didn't listen. They threatened to send my account to collections and ruin my credit if I didn't pay. I eventually had to pay them just to get them off my back, and I'm never doing business with them again. City National Bank is a ripoff and they will try to scam you out of your hard-earned money.
Holy Moly does this bank get it wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME. And man, do I want to love them. They stand for a lot of good things, their company values, at least the ones they preach to you throughout your relationship, are all about doing the extraordinary and taking each banking situation on its own. I've experienced that part of the bank...years ago (been a customer for 20 years). But on the tech side? WOW, do they get it wrong. Every. Single. Time. They recently updated their technology (website, mobile app, etc.) and rather than update it to current standards, they updated it to a standard (and graphical user interface) from like 10 years ago. It's wonky, it often doesn't load properly and when I compare it to the other banks I use (Wells Fargo, Chase, JP Morgan) it's just shockingly bad tech. There's a lot to like about the services the offer, specifically to people in film, TV and commercial production, but they are just not at the level they should be.

I have had endless small problems that I was willing to let go of for a while, however, I am finished. I came back from a vacation with a $200 unauthorized charge from a company I had done business with in the past. My account with thy company had been set to manual renewal, and had no debit card information on file, and had proof of all of that. I called on a Thursday afternoon around 3 pm and was told that there would be a 10 day review process to determine if it was refund eligible, and that my debit card would be canceled and a new one issued. I received a letter on the following Tuesday dated the same day I called customer service stating that because I had done business with this company before, that I was not eligible for a refund. Which is absolutely insane logic. So any grocery store I've ever shopped at can just charge me money, by that logic. I have yet to receive my debit card replacement as well, over 20 days later. I tried to get help within a branch, and Della at the Verona was incredibly helpful as much as she could be, but I decided to close my account still because of the disrespectful treatment I received and complete disregard for my financial wellbeing.
This CNB is located inside Walmart at 2000 W. Memorial Road in Oklahoma City. I recommend this bank and Lilly and Madison are the sweetest bankers this side of Mississippi.
This is the worst bank ever. They hold payroll checks so your auto payments can bounce. Then of course they charge their $25 insufficient fee, but if check was not held this would have never happened. Please bank somewhere else, they are scammers.
They lied to me and my roommate. They told us over the phone my child support check was invalid and had no funds. They claimed that called the bank that distributed my check and said it had no funds. My roommate and I called the bank that distributed the child support check and they verified there was funds for that check. We did three-way calling with the bank that distributed the check and city national. City national straight lied to us and the other bank about my check being invalid. After the other bank called them out their lies. After being called out they finally released my check into my account. If this bank claims they called another bank. Please make sure you call that other bank yourself. They will make up names of people that don't even work for the other banks.
I've had a business account in the Green Valley office at 8475 S Eastern Avenue. Stay far away from Alicia Perez. Once she opens your account your stuck with her as your "relationship manager" like Covid-19 for as long as you have the account! She's a "nosy busybody" and thinks she's part of your business and will get your account closed if she doesn't like your transactions plus she will give you a lousy reference with other banks! Plus the online banking sucks and you have to get a text message with a code every time you access it. A paranoid "gestapo" bank that that thinks they're part of your business - STAY CLEAR!

I have done all my banking at City National Bank for approximately 30 years. Since being acquired by RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) their courtesy & customer service has become terrible. I bank at the Sunset/Doheny branch. I have dealt directly with Bhagya & Jack (VP) recently for the SBA PPP program. Bhagya was fraziled, talked over & intereupted cosisitantly. I would copy Jack into e-mails because Bhagya would not get back to me with extremely time sesative deadlines, thus missing the first PPP round even though I began the process before the SBA even implimented the program. I had to resort to resending e-mails in bold red to respond. I have 3 business accounts and a personal account. I have been banking with City National far longer than any of the current employees at the Sunset/Doheny location. I instructed both Bhagya & Jack that due to their poor handling of my PPP appliacations that I would be looking to move all my banking to another institution. City National, Bhagya refused to due a second PPP application prior to the SBA portals being closed. I went to my other bank who gladly helped me and I got it submitted within two hours. It took weeks with City National during the first round. Low & behold, I received letters signed from Jack the VP stating, "After careful reviw, City National Bank has determined that your checking account # xxxxxxx with us must be closed." it had various other statements in regards to when they will refuse furhter deposits. They state "We suggest that you stop making deposits to or wirte checks agaist your accounts with us at once. Any checks you write after you receive this notice or which are currently are currently outstanding may not be present to us for payment until after the date the account(s) are ckised." etc. etc. (all 4 accoounts received these letters from Bhaygya & singend by Jack. I kept hundreds of thousands of dollars in the accounts for long periods of time. They had use of this money. This is a real slap in the face showing that City National Bank cares nothing about their individual investors who have multiple accounts. What City National does not realize is that I have many Very wealthy clients who bank with them. Some of which have left already to First Republic Bank. I will be showing these letters to them and let them decide what they think of this behavior stemming from VP management. Never will I do business with this company again. They not only are lackadaisical in time sensitive matters but they have not a clue about proper customer service.
