Goldenwest Credit Union

Worst credit union I have ever dealt with. They are willing to lose a customer over $22.00. The pending transactions disappear and then come back a few days later and charge the account causing fees. I find their credit union to be a complete joke

Have had my personal accounts with golden west for about 1 year, we also have financed my wife's vehicle there as well. Within the first month, and then every couple months afterward, they would post incorrect transactions on my online banking, basically showing positive balances then "updating their system" that placed withdrawals before deposits which put us negative. The first two times it happened they admitted there was an issue with their systems and reversed all the fees. This last time it happened they refused to refund the fees even though after their "system updated" they posted transactions that happened after deposits. This place is a small town credit union that is trying to go the way of Wells Fargo and make their money on their fees.

The most serious issue I have used while using Goldenwest Credit Union is with the CD that I opened up with them. A long time ago I opened up a CD (certified deposit) and a few years later I wanted to close the CD. I asked them about closing it and they tried their hardest to not let me close it. In the agreement that I made when I opened the account I did not read anywhere about fees associated with closing the account but when I went to close it they told me there was a 30% fee associated with the closing of the account. I was very unhappy with this situation and have since gone to different Credit Unions that do not have this rule.

Goldenwest has been such a great credit union. I have been using them for 10 years and they have always been very friendly. I have had problems in the past where I overdrew my account and they just took off the charge. I have always gotten fair rates on loans and credit cards. I have had at least 5 different checking accounts at other banks and they have always let me down. There are no hidden fees at Goldenwest like at the bigger banks. Aside from great banking practices, Goldenwest also has friendly tellers. I had a teller at the Layton branch that remembered my name even though I only went maybe twice a month. This has been the best financial institution I have ever had an account.

Back when we lived in St. George, my husband and I had nothing but really positive experiences with Goldenwest. At the time we were looking for a no nonsense application process and found it with them. We set up our account with no hassles what so ever. Every experience and encounter with the staff there was amazing. From the tellers to the manager, they were all so very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about what Goldenwest had to offer. What stuck out the most for us was that every time payday would roll around we would deposit our paychecks and have those funds available to us immediately. No waiting and no fuss. They were also very fair with their fees and policies. I can’t recommend them enough.

I have been a member of Goldenwest Credit Union for over 20 years! Through the years, I have had other offers from other credit unions but because of the "part of the neighborhood" feeling I get whenever I have business with anyone there, they are just ABSOLUTELY great! The customer service is over the top! The rates are wonderful and each and every employee is the nicest and sweetest I have ever met! Unfortunately, I live out of the state of Utah but whenever I have a problem or have questions, I just call directly to the branch and it is always, ALWAYS resolved to my understanding. They don’t use some kind of bank industry jargon I don't understand. I recommend Goldenwest C.U. every day and twice on Sunday.
