Cigna has, over the last two to three years, tripled my premiums. Copays keep increasing, while the list of approved providers gets shorter. They stopped using my pharmacy, forcing me to use their in-house mail order “service”. I will be changing insurers. AVOID THIS COMPANY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

Horrible health insurance! They will do anything to save money (in my case not approve required surgery) and no regard for what qualified doctors and surgeons say! If you plan on never needing to use your health insurance it’s okay (as my parents never had a problem for over the decade they didn’t use it) but if you need medical care or surgery Beware because Cigna is horrible!

My experience with Cigna lies somewhere between TRAIN WRECK and GREEK TRAGEDY.
My Doctor made the mistake of prescribing me mediation which required a Prior Authorization. Cigna received this on June 3 as URGENT – per Cigna Customer Service, an urgent request is processed within 3 Business Days. I am on day 15 and still cannot get this medication. Cigna has advised that it is pending medical review. Gee, I thought my DOCTOR was the medical review required for the medication. My bad. Cigna has consistently sent me back and forth between my provider and their office NO LESS THAN a dozen times. I have a follow-up appointment with my physician, under the presupposition that I have been able to take this medication and can report back to her regarding the results, positive or negative. But I can’t take the medication because Cigna cannot (a.) adequately staff their prior authorization Team, or (b.) has through poor management lost my prior authorization, or (c.) doesn’t giving a flying flip about their customers. I need this medication. I cannot get it. Cigna has dug their heals in and refuses to assist. And what’s more, the Prior Authorization Team? Customers are not allowed to talk to them. Only Doctors or Pharmacies.
Cigna, you are terrible. Your business model is broken. Your Customer Service is laughable. I am seriously considering cancelling my insurance at my annual renewal and going with Obamacare. Ridiculous. You take my money paycheck after paycheck and yet… you don’t serve the customer.
CIGNA is a prime example of what is wrong with medicine in this country. Big corporation who doesn’t offer one iota of care to the people they are charged to serve. I hope your company collapses before you can harm other people with your lack of care.
If you have it in your power to get insurance elsewhere, run screaming. This company is a JOKE.

Stay away from CIGNA global
CIGNA Global, in spite of its marketing efforts, is bottom level. I had CIGNA global and their customer service is horrible. The representatives are friendly but it is obvious that they have no power or authority to do anything. They consistently lose documents, ask impertinent questions and slow to respond. I insured myself and family for about $1,000 US per month and never made a claim as we are all healthy. As an example, I had to be taken to the Emergency Room for a fall while in the US on vacation. I was in and out in a few hours, no inpatient treatment yet they still kept asking what was my treatment plan, etc. They knew that but are, in my opinion, disorganized and finally had to admit that they misplaced my claim. and never followed up with me when they said they would. They also require an EB4 statement from the hospital which is part of a large and well-known network. The EB4 statement is rarely used and antiquated and insurers normally accept a Demand Bill nowadays. Just getting an EB4 from the hospital took me a lot of time. I hope someone benefits from this personal experience.

Cigna is a nightmare company.
I'm an expat living in Greece for several years. I found this company about three years ago, I liked that they gave expat insurance coverage for the whole world (except USA). That said, they are far from the cheapest.
I paid them more than 350 euros a month, and I did not have a single insurance claim in three years. I ended up paying them about 10,000 euros over those three years.
A month ago, my child needed minor surgery, and I wrote to the insurance beforehand. The surgery was not expensive - the preliminary amount was only 1600 euros - with my deductible of 550 euros, it would have cost Signa only 1050 euros. I wrote to the insurance company, and they quickly replied that they would reimburse the amount and I only needed receipts from the doctors and the hospital. I paid for the surgery, collected the documents, and sent them to the insurance company. I was immediately told that the documents had been forwarded for payment.
THAT WAS IT. It's been 3 weeks, I've written three letters to Cigna already, and none of them have responded. I wrote to them in a chat on Facebook - after a day I got a reply that they forwarded the letter to their support service. Still waiting for a response from there. The company ignores all the new emails that I send them - although BEFORE the insured event, they answered literally within a couple of hours.
I don't know if it's a scam or just total disrespect for the customer, but this is the most stupidly wasted €10,000 of my life. I'm glad I found out about it on a relatively small amount of damage.
Do not use the services of this company under any circumstances.

NEGATIVE 0 rating from me. They are horrible. I have had shoulder pain for a month trying to get them to approve a MRI for me. My primary doctor tried. My pain specialist tried..all to be denied. Now i am going to have to pay out of pocket for the MRI because they can't see what is wrong without it. I got xrays that cigna said I needed before they would approve the MRI and they still denied it. The absolute WORST health insurance co. My employer switched us from Blue cross to Cigna and I have had nothing but problems with them .....DO NOT USE IF YOU CAN AVOID!!! CIGNA IS THE WORST!!

Worst health insurance I had through an employer. I was given the wrong information about this bogus company, and got roped in to a $5000 deductible Every year, and when i called customer service to see if there was a way to fix it to get a plan that I can get coverage on. I was told no you need to wait till open enrollment period, or have a life changing event(hinting on getting a new job). The life changing event is I'm going broke on this bull company paying a premium for a plan that won't even cover prescription costs until that deductible is met. I'm at the point where when I can I'm just canceling cigna never to return. They have horrible customer service who don't help resolve issues, just tell you oh well your issue. Like how is 10 dollars off a over 400 dollar medical bill any help. Might as well go in without any insurance and hope the doctors will be more friendly with the bills. Any prescriptions forget about it. 15 dollars a month for cheaper insurance... I would rather go back to paying 125 a month for atnea and know that after that 1500 deductible I'll have my prescription covered, and the same coverage that cigna is providing for 15 dollars a month and a 5000 dollar deductible. Cheap company, and garbage insurance stay away pay more for the better insurance providers.

Rating this company a -0. My husbands company changed to Cigna in February. I have a bulging disk and have seen 3 surgeons that are recommending surgery. I was scheduled for surgery for tomorrow only to be denied coverage. We had a peer to peer meeting which they asked for my primary doctor to send a letter stating that I was mentally stable and a letter from my physical therapist saying that they have provided me with low pain education. I submitted what they requested and they still denied it. Today my doctor called me to cancel surgery for tomorrow and that they are requesting that I go back to therapy and to get cognitive behavioral therapy. We have started the appeal process but I feel like I need to hire an attorney. This has been the worse insurance experienced ever. This is the worse insurance I have ever dealt with in the last 35 years.
