Humana

I highly encourage all NOT to go with Humana. My mother is a paraplegic who desperately needs to be in skilled nursing for 7 more weeks (out of 12). They refuse to cover her stay and the physical and occupational therapy mandatorily ordered by her surgeon. Without these she is at high risk of never being able to live independently again. She is in her 40s. Due to the extreme physical hardships from paralysis, she has no income other than social security. By the end of the month she has $20 to her name. We should be able to pull together the $200 per day for her stay. But cannot cover the extra $400 per day for therapy. This is heartbreaking. Companies like this are filled with greed. They see dollar signs before they see individuals in crisis. They want your money. That’s it.

Wish I could give less than 1 star. Humana military is terrible. They try to skip out on as many bills as possible. I was left with a six figure bill I am still fighting with them on. I’ve had surgeries and my children have had ER visits where they try to avoid paying the bill at any cost. I wish I had other options.

Humana was acceptable in the past but lately they are intolerable. They pay less and charge more. Higher deductible and now they even to refuse to pay their portion of drugs they have paid for in the past. They won’t even accept my doctor sending them information on why I can’t take another drug on their preferred list. They even tried to get my doctor to prescribe a drug not FDA approved for my condition. They reject appeals for no reason. This behavior smacks of profit oriented vs. customer care. When open enrollment comes around, they are history. Avoid these guys!

My insulin (which they have covered for 4 years) is on auto refill and was to come out 7-12. It didnt get even put into an order until I called on the 18th. It is now the 25th and I still have no insulin and none has been shipped. They even cancelled it on the 22nd and put in another order.

WHO DO I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH? THIS COMPANY IS SO FULL OF CRAP, THERE REPS LIE TO YOU, YOU GO TO USE YOUR INSURANCE TO GET TOLD YOU DONT HAVE THE INSURANCE YOU HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR. THEY SAY THERE ARE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS WHEN THERE SHOULD ONLY BE 1. TRYING TO GET ANYTHING RESOLVED IS THE WORSE HEAD ACHE EVER. I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS. THEY UP YOUR RATES THEN LOWER YOUR COVERAGE. ITS ALMOST WORTH HAVING NO INSURANCE VS PAYING FOR SOMETHING YOU CANT EVEN USE. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM AND NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN. SO MY QUESTION IS WHERE DO I GO TO GO AFTER THEM?

I can't believe I read one of these previous reviews and someone else had the same experience and labeled the customer reps as incompetence! Only I can go one step further and label their customer reps' supervisors as incompetence. None of them were willing to help my health problem. All they wanted to do is site why they could not help! None of them knew what a Steroid was and how and why it's used! The customer reps even contacted the pharmacy department and all denied me coverage on fulfilling a needed prescription to treat a flare up on arthritis pain! They even denied me a special approval after consulting with my doctor! What does that say about Humana's customer service department and the company's position in satisfying a customer's health needs? Beware!!!!

Humana is the worst.Their medical is horrible but their dental is ridiculous, it does not pay anything at all. I needed a tooth extracted and an implant and they covered $0 in addition the price is more at the dental office if you have Humana. With Humana it was $6481 without Humana and with Delta Dental it was $4600 and Delta Dental would pay $1500 of that each year. So if I spaced my visit over 5 months I would only have to pay $1600. As soon as the Medicare enrollment period starts in October, Humana is gone.

Humana is the worst health insurance I’ve ever had. Long hold times with their reps, incompetent reps, and they’ll do everything they can to deny pre-approved claims and throw their fine print in your face. I’ll gladly be taking them to court.

Humana Medicare Advantage used to be a great plan. Over the last few years it has really gone down. Medications that I need are no longer being covered. If they are covered I have to pay $50 to 60.00 co pays. Then I am told it may not be covered at all the next time I need to refill. I need a Dexa and have been getting a run around since March. Everyone I know that has United has access to their records on line. Not me. Their patient’s were called and scheduled for their Covid vaccines as soon as they were available. Injection were done at their sites. Not Humana patients. It was fend for yourselves. Now I can’t get any vaccines at my primary care doctors office. I need to go to the pharmacy for my flu, covid, pneumonia and any others I need. United patients don’t have this. You can be assured I will be taking care of myself until October then switching to United.

I filed a legitimate claim form to Humana for a legitimate blood test. Denied. Said the "coding" wasn't right...this, AFTER filing THEIR claim form which didn't ask for coding. They have figured out how NOT to pay claims!!!
