Truly A Positive Experience
I write this Homesite Insurance review with complete satisfaction! In the fall of 2020, I faced a devastating occurrence in my home. I woke up to water standing about three feet! I was greatly overcome with the thought of, “Oh my God what am I going to do now?” After getting in contact with my adjuster, Ms. Angela Cheadle, I have had absolutely “no worries!” Every step of the way she immediately responded to all of my concerns and made sure Homesite honored every contractual agreement! I would definitely recommend this company to family and friends.

This company is garbage. If I could give zero stars, I would. My home was broken into and when I was finally able to talk to an agent, I got zero sympathy and no sense of humanity from this person. They claimed to not have an adjuster in my area so no one came to assess the damage. I've gotten push back on every nickle and dime restore my home to it's original state. Please save your money and find a company that has humans with hearts, compassion, and the desire to actually help people.

Would give ZERO stars if I could. They canceled my homeowners insurance due to 30 feet of roof cap lifting up not anything major by any standard as I have been roofing for many years and I could not get the cap because every home improvement store was out of shingles due to COVID-19, they clearly do not care! You can’t do much in Wisconsin when it’s 3 degrees and 5 inches of snow on a roof. Use someone else because they will not work with you nor do they care if a pandemic prevented you from fixing the problem. BAD COMPANY with even WORSE customer service!

I shopped my insurance because I was looking to save money and ended up going with bundled homeowners and auto policies though Progressive. My homeowners policy ended up being with Homesite and within a month they sent me a cancellation notice unless I replaced my roof in the middle of winter in Ohio. The notice was provided via an e-mail that said "a new document has been posted to your policy." They told me to provide evidence that I had completed the replacement to a generic customer service inbox. I provided paid bills and pictures and just received a "we will get back to you email." A week after submitting my information they still haven't contacted. I can't imagine this company would pay a claim in a timely manner. I understand that they provide the homeowners in bundles for other insurers besides Progressive, so if you are shopping your insurance and find out they are providing the homeowners portion I would definitely consider other options.

Effectively doubled our premium with no communication and no claims on record. This company only cares about your money, not you. This company is used by Progressive (at least in my area) for home/renters insurance - beware.

So during this pandemic year where people are struggling to make ends meet, Homesite decided to raise my homeowners insurance by 45%. When I called to ask why, they said it was due to the value of my home going up by 2%. I have made 0 claims over the 4 years that I have had this insurance. Other than that, they didn't know why it went up so much. Time to look for a different company.

This company is absolutely horrible, first off my adjuster never answers her phone, every time I call it’s either straight to voicemail or it just rings, she never responds to my messages, emails or voicemail, I had to spend an hour calling over and over to finally reach someone to contact her manager to force her to call me, it took three weeks just for me to get a response on my quote, secondly when I finally filed to receive my money it did not come on time and when I tried to call a manager to resolve the issue and check up on my status she told me she was gonna transfer me to someone who can help and just hung up on me, I still have yet to receive my insurance claim payment and no one seems bothered to help me at all, there is no customer support line to help with issues, it’s an absolutely horrible company I will never use progressive or homesite again

If you are considering Geico insurance your home insurance will be underwritten by Homesite. Listen to me closely, RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION! The easiest thing about working with this company was the cancellation. I had to make a claim on my policy due to heavy rain damaging my roof and entering my home. Three weeks went by with no response from the adjustor, Clay Norten. Upon the initial claim, a local adjustor was sent to inspect the damage. We were not going to be home when he was scheduled to come but were told we didn't need to be. He did not inspect the interior damage but instead went by our pictures. He had no clue what actually occurred or what damage was caused between the roof and ceiling. Mold? Mildew? Who knows. Not us. We reached out to Clay several times via phone and email. This guy doesn't work. He never once returned our calls or our emails until my last email which was very stern. They didn't approve any repairs on the roof and only approved repairs to the ceiling. So what happens when we have heavy rain again? We have damage inside yet again. Seriously, what a sham. Take my advice, avoid at all cost. Pay the extra to go with a reputable home insurance company.

If I could give zero star rating I would. Three weeks after filing a claim for our hail damaged roof, we still have no resolve. I have called our adjuster, their supervisor, and customer service and no one seems to want to help us. I have spent hours on the phone leaving messages and sitting on hold. Twice I have been hung up on when asking to speak to a manager. Twice in one day, I was called a liar by two different people. I gave my claim number and they told me I was not a customer of Homesite and the claim number I gave did not belong to them. I told them I was on the website and looking at the claim under my policy. I told them I could send a screenshot of the claim and the first rep straight up hung up on me. The second time I was told they were putting me on hold to find out where to send the screenshot. I sat on hold for 28 minutes and then was hung up on. I called one more time, and after 45 minutes on hold, I finally spoke to a manager in Customer Service today. Brian told me that all he could do to make our poor service right was to say he was sorry. He was unable to do anything further. He then told me that if I wanted to cancel my policy he could help me with that. After being a twelve-year customer of Homesite and never filing a claim he was more than happy to offer to cancel my policy (maybe to get out of paying the claim?) He told me that if I wanted to take things up with the State Secretary insurance office I can do that, but he would not provide an address or phone number for headquarters because they were already registered in the state and if they needed it they would have it. This is not what I expect from a company I have given thousands and thousands of dollars to. Now I will need to pay out of pocket to fix my roof just so I can cancel my policy and get a new one with another company.

I'm so sorry for your experience! They are horrible. Do yourself a favor and cancel! We did and now have better coverage through a more reputable company. We also have better car insurance and a cheaper price.

I had the WORST experience during my entire claim. The communication was poor. My adjuster next to never responded to my emails and would only call me if I called her. I asked to speak to a supervisor and it never happened. Waited until 40 days to deny my claim on something I asked them to remove to begin with. I am extremely disappointed that progressive chooses to bundle with them. I expect more since Progressive has been great over my 10 years of using them. Will be moving companies as soon as this process is complete! Dont use them use a GOOD company like farmers or nationwide.
