THEY SHOULD BE IN JAIL! I've been going through HOMESITE INSURANCE for years for home insurance. I have been paying $85 a month on a $95,000 home after they raised their price $5 from the previous year ($80) I just seen they are raising my premium again. Are you ready for this? What would you say would be a fair increase due to inflation and such with no claims? Well the good honest workers at HOMESITE INSURANCE saw it justifiable to raise it from $85 to $400 with no other explanation other than inflation. This is criminal and they should be prosecuted! I will be talking to an attorney to see about a lawsuit as well. If that isn't price gouging I don't know what is!!! If you have been a VICTIM of HOMESITE please call Department of Insurance and Financial Services to report it at 517-290-4580 or 517-284-8715

I have to say, this is the worst ins. Company I have ever dealt with. They took out money, then sent us a letter saying we had 30 days to have a completely new roof put on, or they would cancel us. Now mind you it is August in SC, 100 plus degrees, roofers are going to wait. That's ok. I canceled them. That was dirty. We are seniors living on fixed income, and we already had 4 different roofing companies tell us our roof is fine for 4-5 more years. Don't hire them for you insurance needs. They take your money then screw you over. Plus they were $600. A year more than other companies.

Buyer beware. It honestly feels like living in the middle of a scam. They work with shady contractors and constantly change adjusters, so your home problems will never get fixed. I filed a claim in Feb for something that should G’s d been fixed in weeks. They started repair at the beginning of May. My house is still torn up. They are slow and unresponsive and it’s as if there is a button they can press to reassign your adjuster it comes time to actually make progress. This is the worst company I’ve ever given money to for a service. Do not make my mistake.

Recently had a power outage due to a bad storm that knocked out power across multiple state areas. Homesite does not cover the hundreds in food costs that I know have to replace because I lost power to my fridge. I have personal property coverage and loss of use, but it’s apparently not covered. This is a VERY COMMON coverage, that apparently they just don’t do.
They also have a ridiculous new policy where they WILL NOT DISCUSS YOUR COVERAGES WITH YOU. You have to file a claim which they will then approve or deny, they will not tell you a straight answer whether or not something is covered. One of the absolute stupidest policies I’ve ever heard.

Okay so the scam is to get a customer to sign up and get that initial money from them or their mortgage company. Then come up with an excuse to cancel the policy Within the first 30 days so they won't have to pay anything or deal with you again. They are simply existing off of the first 30 days × however many unsuspecting people who get duped. Progressive and Geico are in cahoots with these dirt burglars and they are guilty by association. Apparently they don't care that your mortgage will lapse your coverage and penalize you because you can somehow fully replace a roof in 4 weeks. Homesite insurance scammers are truly ruthless. Aside from the reviews more people should go through the proper channel to make complaints. At least agitate them while they're robbing you.

My son just passed away & there's only 3 months left on this RENTERS policy. I submitted his death certificate as they requested (which is ridiculous!) so that the auto pay would stop and now they are wanting other paperwork. You would be able to easily cancel a renters policy if you moved, but not if you pass away. Awful customer service & they want me, as his mother, to jump through hoops for less than 61.00. No.

I can relate to this! My husband passed away and I had to take over the bills quickly. When the home insurance came due I had one put in my name since I cancelled his car insurance which was bundled with home insurance policy (silly me thinking they were cancelled/linked together) they werent. I was shocked when my mortgage company said "do you know you have two home insurance policies?" So called them and cancelled the policy since I was the second person on the account. Check came it's in his name. They said we will send you a new check. Came again in his name. The check isn't small it's about $500 so it's a good amount. Bank won't cash it since it needs the estate document from court even if I'm the wife and have all documents. Explained this. Here I am going on 2yrs later with homesite and I reported th to the BBB and dealing with them. They are not taking responsibility and either pointing fingers at the bank to cash the check, that this just happened this year (I have documentation it didn't) or they throw me under the bus making sure that's it's not there fault. It's a horrible company and refuse to help people at any time especially when it comes to the loss of a family member. I am so sorry to hear about your son. They are heartless company as you can see they just want to keep money no matter what the case is.

They are fine with the first claim that you file, God forbid that you have the misfortune of filing another claim, even if you are filing the claim a year after you filed the first one! Then you get to deal with an SIU Investigator! Special Investigations Unit Agent! They proceed to interrogate you, asking you questions like how much do you make per year, can they get the name and number of your landlord and a many more personal questions. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company! They promptly take your payment, but they are not to quick to pay your claim!

My roof and ceiling got damaged and I had fixed both out of my pocket. Excuses galore. Stay clear of this company. Once you have taken out insurance with this company it is all about avoiding accepting your claim. They will do everything to avoid paying, in fact they are not going to pay. You will be paying for insurance but effectively you do not have any insurance. Once there is a claim then you will see the corruption.

Homesite is billing me for a policy that doesn't exist due to their own IT error. Hard to believe, but in fact I don't have a policy, yet they are billing me over $2000. They have promised repeatedly that their IT team will fix this issue in their own database, but after 2 months and multiple phone calls, it still isn't resolved and I have received notice of a late payment for a policy that doesn't actually exist in their system. I have filed a BBB case as well.
