Key bank was my first bank when I was in college. I had no idea what I was looking for so I just signed up at the closest branch I could find. I put up with the monthly maintenance fees, the overdraft fees, the poor service overall, for like 3 years before I had enough. It was a fine account for someone just getting started, but really, there's so much better banks out there.
I would give zero stars if I could. They put a hold on a mobile deposited check. 500 bucks. Called over 10 ppl with customer service and the banks themselves. Zero help. No reason for the hold. My boss said they took the funds from her BECU account the day after I deposited the check. No one knows why they are holding it. They said 9am next day deposit. Then it said may 22nd. Then may 26th. Still nothing. They claim they can't cancel it. I couldn't buy food or pay bills that are now late. Once it deposits I will be closing my account. This bank is horrible. Zero problems for almost 4 years. Until they stole my money. Wow
I have been doing business with key bank for many years. This company gave me a debit card to use, therefore we are not passing $$ back & forth. I love doing business with Key Bank everyone is very professional. “It looks & sounds to me that WALLETHUB is judging people on their credit card usage & posting it on our credit report. I feel the debit cards monthly usage s/b accounted for. Have a great day.
You don’t want to bank with key bank! I was a 4 year member at key bank, and never had any issues with any checks I’ve ever had deposited into my account! Well today I took a check into my local branch and tried cashing it knowing that they would put a 24 hour hold on it. Well that was not the case, next day I called because money had not hit my account yet and was wanting to know why. For one, no one ever called me and told me that my check was flagged suspicious, keep in mind I have been getting direct deposit from same company that the bank is saying is fraudulent. So I go to bank to retrieve my check, I was told it’s long gone can’t have it back, so then I call 800 number and ask them why my check is being flagged ( when it’s coming from same company). I didn’t get a straight answer, they kept giving excuse’s like, check is older than six months, the algorithm didn’t match their numbers. Then they said I have to wait 5 business days for it to clear! What do I tell my starving children and wife? Sorry got to wait five days to eat! Anyway you really don’t want to bank with key bank! They are not friendly, and they seriously have problems being honest with their customers.
Stay away from this Banking institution. It scams the community and individuals that bank with them. key bank is unable to protect your money. They gouged my payroll check with fraudulent charges while I was at work I can literally see money coming out of my accounts while I was on the phone with them make a claim. The transactions were 400 miles away and from where I live and they denied my claim. I don’t advise anyone to use key bank because your money is not safe. Key Bank is predatory at best. They take advantage of the poor citizens in the community and they continue to get wealthy off the backs of the working class. DO NOT USE KEY BANK!
When the bank was First Niagara it was great. The people were honest and open and worked with you. Once Key took over it all changed. Key is clearly a typical old style bank where people get promoted based on time at the bank not ability. Everything is very ridge and new rules pop out of no where and you only find out at some random date. They never tell you what's going on. Basically, they are designed to be a less attractive PNC (Please No Credit) conservative and only really good for big companies, who are located in Cleveland.

I have been a KeyBank customer since 2006 and was very happy with their services until last year when we almost lost a house we were trying to purchase because KeyBank would not release our money for the downpayment. This is because of their outdated policies. My husband had to take an emergency flight from Los Angeles to the closest KB branch in Utah to sign for the release of our money. Secondly, I discovered that their savings account rates of 0.01% were terrible and we lost so much money because we had it with KB. I have switched to another bank with better service and rates over 3%. Also, my IRA gained only $5 from 2006-2023. I let customer service know that I was upset and would be switching to another bank as a result. No one bothered to apologize or reach out to me to see how they could make it better.
KeyBank Mortgage Loan Servicing. With automatic bill payer set up to pay our home loan each month our escrow amount changes without us knowing. The loan payment goes up by $300 and yet we keep paying the original amount. Because we are now not sending the full amount the system does not apply the money sent to the home loan and just holds it, begins charging late fees, AND starts sending credit agencies notifications that we are delinquent in payment. The best part is when KeyBank files to foreclose and sends threatening letters . . . this is the first notification we received regarding this matter.
Calling the Keybank Mortgage Loan Servicing folks . . . we are told it is completely our fault . . . KeyBank did it all "by the book."
This is a 300k loan secured by a 2.3 million dollar house. As usual KeyBank is a total joke. Don't do business with this company if you can help it.
Opened a savings (& checking) account due to a promo - maintained the minimum required balance and they never paid the promotion even though it was escalated to the Branch Manager, who confirmed I had met all the requirements/kept the minimum balance in longer than was required for the payout.
Wasted at roughly 10 hours of my life on phone calls/talking with their customer service and Branch Managers and they never ended up following through on their commitments (I was reassured during several conversations they would "make things right" and never did). Finally closed my savings & checking accounts less than a year after opening them since they clearly weren't going to follow through and didn't value me as a customer.
If you value your money, stay away. Spurious fees, ridiculous lack of care about customer or relationship. I’ve spent huge time getting late fees reversed that were charged for on time payments. Seriously: stay away.
Every 5 KeyBank rewards points are worth 1 cent (500 points = $1) when redeemed for cash back. KeyBank rewards points can also be redeemed for merchandise, gift cards, travel rewards, charity donations, and domestic plane tickets, among other things. But point values may vary for those redemption methods.
Although each KeyBank point isn't worth all that much on its own, cardholders get a better deal than you might think, considering how many points you can earn with KeyBank's rewards cards.
With the KeyBank Key2More Rewards Credit Card, you can earn 5 points per $1. The KeyBank Business Rewards Credit Card is even more impressive. It will give you 10 points / $1 spent on gas, restaurants, travel, and telecom. And it gives 5 points / $1 spent on all other eligible purchases.
Just remember that KeyBank points expire 4 years after you earn them. So, make sure to redeem on a regular basis. You can sign in to your online banking account at key.com to redeem.
Yes, you can. You just need to be enrolled in online banking, and to download KeyBank's Mobile Banking smartphone app. You can learn more about how to do this at: https://www.key.com/personal/mobile-banking/mobile-deposit.jsp.
