Kay Quinn (claims adjuster) was the absolute rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. Completely unprofessional and incompetent.

Last August 8th, 2022 I requested a loan against my policy through my insurance agent representative in Florida.
August 23rd, 2022 I followed up with my agent about the request and I was told that American National Insurance Company issued the check last August 23, 2022.
It came to my attention that I have not received any correspondence from American National other than the original policy documents three years ago in November 2019. My insurance agent sent me the last annual statement which I should have received every February since 2020, 2021 and 2022 from American National Insurance but I did not because the apartment number was not in their mailing records.
I reviewed the copy of the annual report and noticed that the first page contains my complete address (including the apartment number) but the rest of the pages do not contain my apartment number. I called back my agent to confirm to which address the check was mailed to and found out that, according to American National’s records, the check was mailed to my address but the apartment number was missing on the check.
I called customer service last Friday and talked to a customer service representative named, explained my urgency in receiving this check. I was told that the original check, dated August 23rd, 2022 was sent to the address where my apartment number was missing.
I asked her what the company policy was in my case considering that my address was not registered correctly in American National’s records, that I have not received the annual statements since 2020 and she told me that a stop payment was going to be placed against the check issued 8/23/2022 and another check was going to be issued and sent to my corre
ct address (with the apartment number) by overnight mail by Monday and I should receive it by Tuesday August 30th. 2022.
Yesterday, August 29th, 2022 I received the original check in my mailbox containing my complete address including the apartment number on the letter accompanying the check but the apartment number was missing on the check itself.
I called customer service earlier today, Tuesday August 30th, 2022; told them that I had received the check and explained about my conversation with Dora Rivera on Friday. The customer service representative told me that he had my file on the screen and there were no notes regarding any cancellation showing that there were no restrictions or stop payments therefore I could go to the bank and cash the check.
I went to the bank where American National Insurance Company has its account to cash the check but the teller told me that there was a stop payment placed on this check by the issuer.
Finally at 6:17 pm Tuesday 8/30/2022, I received a call from Mr. Dapino, a customer service supervisor who told me the same story again adding the fact that the department that issues the checks was already closed with total disregard of the customer’s needs shown from the beginning of this saga in which any policy holder is liable to experience. In spite of the fact that my complete address was not registered in their mailing records, in spite of not having received the annual reports for the last 3 years, in spite of not trying to find a solution to the customer's satisfaction.
What should I, or any policy holder could expect from American National Insurance Company when the time comes to cash out the life policy knowing for a fact that serving their customer’s needs is not a priority?

By far the worse insurance company ever. After getting a private adjuster, doing all the American National adjusters homework and trying to cheat us out over 8k. Because they were too lazy to look up to see how much the trailer was worth. The one adjuster hung up on us not once, but twice. That went to management, doubt they did anything. Took almost a month for the insurance. I figured if they wanted it done for a friend or even their self they would have rushed to get it done. Insurance shopping and definitely have told all of our friends about this worthless company

BUYER BEWARE! I insured a ring for $22,000. (Not on my home owner’s policy, but with a special jewelry policy) I paid the rate for $22,000. The ring was lost so I had to make a claim. I made the claim the end of Dec. 2021, in mid Feb. they had some jewelry wholesaler call me and offer to make me a replacement ring. I told him I would prefer to go to the reputable jeweler who custom made the ring I lost, knowing they would re-create the ring with the same quality as the original. They then offered me a check for $13,500. If I wanted $13,500. Worth of insurance, I would have paid the rate for $13,500.
Their customer service is non-existent, after 3 months of calling and emailing him, I’ve not yet spoken to Shane Fowler, claims adjuster out of Indiana. I’ve had home and auto insurance with this company for at least 15 years, and never made a claim. My local agent, Kyle Haugen of the Haugen agency in Minneapolis has not been able to reach Shane Fowler either. There is no transparency, or accountability from this company. After spending the last few hours reading online complaints and negative consumer reviews, I’m shocked that AMERICAN NATIONAL is still in business.

Mother had a very large policy. Paid on it for years. She passed suddenly of a stroke. They paid within about a month of me getting them the death certificate and proof of my ID. No hassle, they were sympathetic and personable on phone and all. Should be higher rated. I suspect some with problems are having trouble with paperwork or timeframe of death, lying to get policy about health problems then dying 6 months later etc.

What a HORRIBLE company! Please do yourself a favor and stay away. They gladly take, take, take your money but when you need them they’re nowhere to be found. They’ll take weeks to tell you they won’t help. Steer clear!!!

Was out with COVID: the claims team will run you ragged to delay payment. They will not pay your full coverage. 3weeks, still no check ,so cannot relay on timely proceeds to pay your bills.

This insurance is horrible. They will find any excuse not to cover claims. We had our whole house damaged from 2 major hail storms back to back, so we filed a claim and they sent their own adjuster to look at damage and they would only give us a fraction of the of the amount needed, so we couldn’t get our anything replaced. We approached them again about it and got private quotes and now they are weaseling out of paying again. need to sue

Worst insurance to deal with. One of their policy holders crashed into me and it's been a month now and I still don't have my money. They stall the process on purpose. 12 days passed before I got a rental car from them. My insurance(progressive) honestly didn't help me either. Both suck. I won't be renewing with them. Bunch of crooks. No wonder American national isn't as recognized as others.
