I was provided with wrong information by UNUM and had to get my companies insurance rep to straighten that out. UNUM tried to reject my claim on wrong information. Held up my claim waiting for information from my surgeon for records from 12 months prior - hadn't met my surgeon until a week before my surgery. Messed up my direct deposit, told me to check with my bank, bank says they cant check a deposit they didnt receive -- went back to UNUM and they say they cant verify my direct deposit info for security reasons -- so how do we figure out where they sent the money? To many departments that dont talk to each other -- If you have a disability claim and a critical illness claim they dont talk to each other -- both claims make you jump through the same hoops, supply the same info, try to deny for the same reasons, and after one claim gets approved the other still tries to deny... CRAZY! Their website is impossible to navigate. Requests for information is convoluted. Phone system takes you to wrong people. UNUMS systems and processes are designed to deny claims and not service the consumers paying for the insurance.
