Been with PFCU since 1985. Never any problems with service or products. They have the best rates on loans and credit cards. I will stick with PFCU.

I would not recommend this credit union to anyone. They are quick to charge late fees. They are unwilling to work with you. If you get behind on your auto payment they put a hold on your debit card until you pay it. They literally hold your money hostage. If you go into the negatives they not only charge you a late fee they also put a hold on your debit card. So, even though you just got paid and your account it current when you go to use your card for the first time it gets declined. You have to call them and ask them to have access to YOUR money. At the end of the day if you bank with Purdue Federal Credit Union they control your money not you.

I would not bank here. I was a member for years and they would not lower my APR on credit card. I would not trust them. Also there fees are high and they do not have any leeway whats so ever. One day late and bam late fee.

Don’t do business with this bank. My account was negative and I called back to resolve it but the person on the line took the card information wrong after repeated twice. Then Left a voice mail stating that card was copied wrong. I’ve tried calling them multiple times at the same day. As a result PEFCU reported the account $32 charge off. After calling them about the problem, they did not offer any help what so ever since it was their incompetence to take down simple credit card information.

I once tried to purchase a laptop which was worth more than $1000. They had a credit limit on my credit card and simply refused to remove it temporarily. I finally had to make my purchase using another credit card. I like the fact that the minimum withdrawal amount from an atm is $10 whereas the amount is more for other banks. They also have a coin collecting machine which counts your coins when you put them there. Overall, the customer service is fair.

They were very informative when i was applying. They answered all my questions with ease. Their employees come across very knowledgeable about anything you could ask them. I have never waited more than five minutes to be helped.

Purdue Federal Credit union is the most student-friendly credit union I have worked with. It was the first place I went to when I decided to open a credit line and savings account. The interest rates on the savings account are decent and the credit interest is a little high, but it was very easy for a student with no credit score to open an account. The staff has always been very friendly and patient. I have never had a single problem with this credit union.
When I was born, my parents set up a savings account for me at PFCU, since then I have opened my own checking account, got pre approved for car loans there, and eventually opened my business account with PFCU. Every time I go there I feel like family or an old friend. They are incredibly friendly and work with you on whatever you need. I came in one time to set up my online banking account and they took time away from behind the counter to help me set it up and make sure it would work the way I wanted it to for my separate accounts.

My overall satisfaction with this credit union is good. However, I would have rated this credit union better had it not been for one major issue that has cost me money, late fees, and confusion. The problem is their website usability/ease. When you go to make a payment on your pefcu credit card, you have to do it as a transfer from your personal bank account to your credit card (acts more like a deposit transfer). The problem is that if you don't click the "min payment" option, it doesn't count as a payment towards your due bill. For instance, I went to my account, payment due was 210.65, I selected other amount and paid 250. I assumed this would pay my bill and apply the extra towards principal. Instead, it applied all to principal and I didn't realize till the following month! So I then had to pay a 2 months bill and late fees! If the website was made more user friendly, I'd rate them higher.

This credit union is fantastic. I joined my freshman year as a student at Purdue. The application process was simple and fast in the extreme. The location right on campus was great too, and the ladies who worked behind the counter were very understanding of all the problems and questions that young people and money might create. This is a credit union to form a long lasting relationship with. Any time I've ever wanted to make a change to my services or looked to add a new one, there was always someone willing to sit down and explain all the jargon to me in simple to understand terms.

Tips for Maximizing the Value of Purdue Federal Rewards Points
Pay your bill in full every month.
The Purdue Federal Rewards card's regular APR is high enough to erode your rewards earnings if you carry a balance from month to month.
Read the rewards program rules.
Every credit card with rewards also has rules for when unredeemed earnings could be lost – usually as a result of closing your account or missing payments. Double-checking these details can help you keep every cent of rewards value you earn.
