I have never done business with Santander Bank, but in the last 10 months I have received three letters from Santander Bank (Boston, MA) in which they repeatedly claim they need me to attest to having an account with them. The supposed purpose of the attestation is to verify FDIC coverage. All three letters have arrived with "presorted" postmarks i.e., junk mail letters. Careful reading of the letters shows that these letters are an unscrupulous marketing ploy designed to get new customers. I will never do business with Santander Bank given their unscrupulous business practice.
Santander charges very high interest rates for what they offer, stay away from them if you can. I didnt mind that since my credit history was new, but what really got me mad is that when they overcharged me, they sent me a prepaid debit card as a refund...what a joke
Three times in the past 2 years, I have had to call their customer service department and each time with not much success. Wait times, rude and not well-trained representatives. And, make sure you read the fine print and understand it.. Fortunate for me there is a bank on every corner. Goodbye Santander...
At best a predatory lending company that has never reported my payments to the credit agencies. They are bad news, run if anyone tries to get you financed through them!
I had my car loan for 6 years, never one time was I late!! I assumed Santander would do their job.. and take the last payment of 20.00 out of my account.. but they didn’t. I call spend an hour of MY time on the phone, to be told I needed to pay the difference, and they would waive the 20 late charge, this was on March 1st, I paid the difference. I was told the fee would be waived, now here we are on April 1st, and I’m getting debt collection calls, and was told by the supervisor that they dinged my credit!!! This is the thanks I get for being on time every month!! I will be taking legal action!!!
This is only the third I've financed a vehicle in my lifetime. And I'm middle age for the record. The last time, I borrowed from USAA, which also provides me with my car insurance as well. When I called in to pay off the balance. They verified me, took my routing and checking number, bada boom bada bang, done, less than 10 minutes. These people and their dysfunctional and disorganized process. It puts you thru a lengthy process to establish an account. To which it didn't work. Three phone calls later, and to their supposedly executive level customer support. I've established it would just be easier on the sanity to send in a check. But I'm inconvenienced of going to the bank to stop the auto pay, and the post office. What geniuses pulling a six figure salary came up, or I should didn't come up with any form of practicality for their consumers. And of course, we all know that they're a predatory lender without any ethics. Stay away from these people like the plague!
Man I wish I could put ZEROOO stars! My friend has paid almost twice the value of her car because these people feel like it! She paid off her car and months after they decide to repossess the car because apparently there were some interest charges that she was never warned about. AFTER, they took her car to a junkyard and the people there messed up her car in many ways. My friend decided to take back the car and start paying the CRAZY debt on her account at that moment. They said she owed $14,000!! Wth?! SHE HAD PAID IT IN FULL!! Now she owes 14k more?! Regardless, she decided to keep it because she loves her car and now when she looks at the account.. she owes 20k?! What is wrong with these people! Sooner than later they will get what they deserve. Freaking messed up people. They totally destroy your credit and then steal your hard earned money. No way a company like this can still be in business. Don't trust them!!
Santander bank promises to protect their customers and our money. This is a lie. Two weeks ago while making legitimate purchases in my city of Brooklyn NYC, Santander bank shut off my debit card THREE times in 2 days and I had to verify my purchases. How embarrassing. However, a week later, somebody"skimmed my card and made over $500 of unauthorized purchases 800 miles away in Philadelphia PA. Not only did Santander bank not notify me, shut off my card, but allowed these purchases and told me to file a claim with them. After filing the claim, Santander Bank decided to only give me $25.00 back from the fraudulent purchases. This is an insult to me and every customer who decided or will decide to use this bank. DO NOT USE SANTANDER BANK! SANTANDER BANK WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR MONEY. I asked to speak to a manager and my request was denied. I have been on hold for over an hour!request was denied. I have now spent over an hour and a half on hold trying to speak to a manager. No one will help me. DO NOT BANK AT SANTANDER. THIS BANK IS THE WORST!!!
This bank is terrible! Don't bother to work with them. Regardless of how loyal a customer you are and if you have never missed a payment, they are unwilling to show the same loyalty in return! I have never been late on any payments over 10 years. After a payoff was made, they sent $1.55 as a carry over that I was not aware of. They hurt my credit terribly and are unwilling to remove it from my credit report. The best part is they sent me a check for $3.03 as their oversite the same month they stated I owed $1.55 then proceeded to notify the credit bureau I was late. Wow!

Santander's customer service is by far, the rudest & most inept I have thus encountered! It would help greatly if they employed individuals were capable of doing more than repeating a script!
The Santander Bank Spher credit card requires a score of at least 750. That means you need to have excellent credit in order to get approved for it.
With that said, Santander will use more than just your score as a metric for approval. Any past negative marks, as well as your income, will play a part in their decision.
You need excellent credit -- we suggest a score above 750 -- to be approved for this card and to be able to enjoy its perks and bonuses. Before submitting an application, check your credit score for free on WalletHub. Best of luck!
