Good for nothing. Due to the fact that you have incompetent employees in Clifton Park who gave my Mom false information regarding an auto loan after my dad died, her car was repossessed. This was her only transportation to and from chemotherapy, radiation and Dr appointments. Maybe you people should teach your tellers that if they don't know the answer to a question they should ask someone who knows what the they're doing. Refusing to release her survivor benefits check was also a stupid move, and very illegal. Her attorney was caught off guard when he heard that today. If I could give your disgrace of a bank negative stars I would. Thanks a lot though for screwing my Mom over. To say I despise your bank and tellers would be an understatement.
I had a motorcycle loan with SEFCU and now live out of state. I am selling the bike and needed to pay off the loan and get a Lien Release. I sent a check and they placed a 10 day hold on the money even thought the transaction was cleared in just 2 days....this caused a delay in getting the loan paid and the release. I contacted them and explained the situation the person I spoke to said they would expedite the release, they failed to do so. I then called again explaining my buyer gave me a deadline to have the release. They said they would overnight the release.....I am still waiting 5 days later. I lost my buyer, had to reimburse him his deposit by depleting my own savings. I now have to find a new buyer. SEFCU has become too big, they no longer care about their customers. I have been a customer with them for DECADES and cannot get a simple thing like a Lien release sent om a timely manner. THEY SUCK.
I have been with SEFCU for 20 years. I have done a lot of banking with them over this time but one of the things that is really annoying is there inability to trust or respect other financial institutions. I deposited a check from a major corporation and SEFCU put a week long hold on it to make sure they got their money first. Now I realize this is considered smart business but when you have customers that are counting on you maybe take a risk for them or use common sense which would tell you a large corporation would not renege on a tiny insignificant amount of funds they pay out. It used to be SEFCU would hold funds on certain checks and against certain institutions but not on all. It is just a shame and makes me think if SEFCU can’t trust any other institution how do we know we can trust SEFCU.
Absolutely atrocious. Worst bank I've ever used. Their website is terrible. Customer service is somehow even worse. Opposed to most credit unions, when given a choice, they make policies which benefit their bottom line instead of their customers. Worse than any commercial bank. I've had minor issues which have taken a dozen times contacting them to get it resolved. I'd avoid them at all costs.
Be careful dealing with SEFCU! I had my debit card stolen and reported as well called many times and did not care to help! I am member for 30+ years and no more. I urged everyone to make sure you write reviews so all others can make their decisions. I am done with this bank and urge all others to do the same, that is the only way you can teach them a lesson
great secured card.. can choose your own limit (credit + 10% -- i.e for a $2000 line of credit, your would have to have a secured deposit of $2200, for $3000= $3300hold). now i have applied for a vehicle loan., with a co-signer, and they are giving us %1.8apr!) great people and good service and products. without sefce i would have NO credit. Thanks SEFCU!
One day, is all I had left to cover a overdraft. They shut it down and thats after they posted my SSI, so the money was there. They claim the overdraft was over 60 days old, but thats BS, every month money is sent from SSI. They also said it never reset. They also claimed that they sent letters out stating that, which never came. Mobile app, online, all I got was low balance notices. In this day and age everything is electronic, so why didnt they do that? Your just a number to them, not a human.
I don't know what happened to Sefcu, but it has gone downhill!! I have spoken with their customer service 5 times and received 5 different answers and am no closer to fixing my account for external transfer that's holding up thousands of dollars. this is the 3rd time I've had problems with Sefcu in as many months, over different stuff, and keep getting the wrong info! I have 4 different accounts and been with Sefcu for 20+ years and have never had it this bad! time to cancel time to look into Capcom.

I wish there was a zero stars! They are absolutely terrible! We spent months getting to process a student loan. They kept requesting inaccurate proof. After about 5 months of going back and forth, we were able to flush the process. But we thought we finally were done with terrible service.. oh how naive... the first month we were charged the wrong payment amount, TWICE! I cannot wait for this loan to be paid! They absolutely suck! I have never had such an experience with any bank, let alone a credit union! ESL rocks! I only wish they had different loans, I wouldn't have used Sefcu for sure!
SEFCU doesn't make their home equity loan credit score requirement public. However, ss a general rule, lenders typically want borrowers with a credit score of at least 700 and whose total debt amounts to about 40% or less of their total income.
SEFCU will report to the three major consumer credit bureaus, TransUnion, Equifax and Experian, on a monthly basis. There's no way to tell the exact date without context. You can call them and ask at 800-727-3328.
Therefore, by making regular on-time payments to SEFCU, you will demonstrate your financial responsibility and can improve your credit.
