As a member I experienced some financial difficulties the credit union wouldn’t work with me refused payments and turned me debt over to collections agency who refuse to settle with me so don’t go here for business cause when health issues happy to their members they don’t care
This credit union was great, the pst year, I’ve seen them go downhill. First I management, costumer service, and overall the entire business is going downhill. The president controlling the company needs to quit, he has made this company horrible to do business with.

This financial institution is terrible They take over ten days for a check to clear. I did not want to use the app to deposit the check because of reviews I read. My business partner decided to do it anyway. Terrible idea. Almost every small business struggles with cash flow issues. They think hindering cash flow is a good idea. It is actually faster to get approved for a loan and get cash into your account. I have other loans, accounts and this did not help with anything. DO NOT USE THIS CREDIT UNION EVER.

SEFCU employees are courteous, friendly and always willing to help. They treat you like family. I've never had a bad experience with them. I joined SEFCU many years ago and because of my credit score I never applied for a loan or a credit card. Years later, I went to SEFCU, spoke with a representative, she listened and she advised me to do a secured loan because that would help improve my credit score, After doing a secured loan for two years, my credit score increased tremendously. I was finally able to get a personal loan with no deposit and I have a credit card with very good credit limit. SEFCU works with you not against you.

SEFCU underwent a significant change to their computer system in the Spring of 2019. By all accounts, this has been a disaster. In our case, my wife and I have/had a joint checking account. We used to receive typical monthly statements of the joint account. After the system upgrade, they no longer send statements based on accounts, but on member numbers. As a joint account, only the "primary" member receives a statement. In our case, that meant my wife had no visibility on an account that she is supposed to be a joint member on. Further investigation online showed that she does not have access at all. My wife called the central customer service who gave her a run-around. Supposedly, a manager was to call her back. Never did. We went to the local SEFCU office and spoke to a representative. The representative confirmed that we were out of luck and that there have been numerous customer complaints following the "upgrade." Apparently, the upgrade and the complete lack of corporate caring have forced this employee to quit their job after more than a decade of work there. We removed all of our money from the checking account that day.

Look at the trend, people. SEFCU is conducting business like a bank now, which means screwing their customers (members means nothing now) with every possible fee they can come up with, denying credit, and delaying deposits in the hopes of collecting overdraft fees. They have gone downhill SO quickly. I’m going to Capcom.

I never felt so rushed and unwelcome by a customer service representative at a credit union the way I did today at SEFCU Latham Branch. I don't if I got there just before her lunch or what. I stopped at the branch to make sure that my tax return direct deposit has been returned or rejected by the clearinghouse so I could get my paper check in the mail or another direct deposit. Becky or Rebecca, I can't quite remember her name was so rude and unprofessional. I was at her desk for probably less than two minutes. You could sense by her responses and open-ended questions that she wanted to get rid of me quick. Thank God I still have my CapCom account just down the road, and my NY State Payroll direct deposit will follow me as well...
Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once they have your acct., you are crap. Horrible!!!!!!!!!! Took my deposit by Tele deposit then the 3rd deposit, they say they can't. No notice, just can't do it. RUDE PEOPLE TOO!!!!
SEFCU isn’t a personal bank anymore. You are a number. I got denied a personal loan for high debt to income ratio. I’ve been the perfect customer for over 15 years, excellent credit, paying off loans early, no late payments, you name it, I did it correctly. I dont pay rent, but they added $650 “rent” to my application loan expenses anyway. What??? I called to say there had been a mistake but nope, that is their policy...just in case I have to pay rent in the future. Would they do that to a man? Here is the clincher: one week ago I paid off my $3000 personal loan early, have a zero balance on my master card with them, and today I’m denied a personal loan for a $1000.00 less than what I just paid off! It seems I didn’t fit their calculations. I was welcome to “try again”. No thank you. I don’t need your loan THAT much and I don’t need a co-signer at over 50 years old either. Keep your loan. My 5 star bank just got lowered to 3 stars.

This company is pretty good at messing with peoples credit and charge what ever they feel like doing so. Please becareful because they like to do what they want. Please use caution and keep up with your credit score.
