Space Age Credit Union

Not sure who is training these people, but I have never had a more abrasive phone call in my life. This company deals with personal finances of all kinds but has the customer service skills of a dumpster. Do better.

I have been a member of this institution for almost 20 years. When I call in to speak with individuals, they are rude, talking over you, yelling, and very aggressive. This is not isolated; it is a culture of disrespect that seems to be cultivated at this institution. During calls with both Barb De Luca and Jason Hartshorn, in situations where we had many questions about issues with my mortgage company and a loan, we were met with aggression and impatience. There should never be a time when a customer cannot call, ask questions, and gain an understanding while feeling confident that the team on the other end of the phone has your best interests at heart. There is a culture of perpetuated disputes, a need to one-up and escalate, and a failure to hear and understand. It's arrogance in dealing with people and issues. Only one individual in my recent interactions has made us feel like our membership mattered. Thank you, Mr. Uchida. I am sorry to be critical, but your team and their methods need some oversight and review. Take your business elsewhere. They are combative, confrontational, and dismissive. It is too difficult to deal with the operational staff.

They are misleading. Unless you work in the area or work, not associated with* like their website says, they will deny you membership. They also run a hard inquiry credit check on your credit report as part of their "process" to just become a member, not even an account.
I don't know of another credit union that was so unfriendly, unreasonable, and flippantly matter-of-fact, uncaring about my experience with them, and impacted my credit score. Would never recommend in a billion years. Attempted to work with them and they coldly refused. Please bank anywhere else but here and may God have mercy on your soul.

I love my credit union. I even love the name. I have been with Space Age since 1990. My family and I have used Space Age for savings and checking accounts, personal loans and CDs. In all these years I'€™ve only had one problem with Space Age where they put my deposit into another members account. Once the mistake was realized Space Age did everything in their power to correct it, including reimbursement for bounced check fees. They have always given prompt and courteous service. I can access my accounts over the hone or their web page. I would recommend this particular credit union to anyone who was interested.
