Horrible bait and switch on the overdraft line of credit. After years of having a 2000$ line of credit, Sterling abruptly raised the overdraft fee, from $2 and change to $15 per overdraft. Price gouging with zero accountability. When I complained I was treated rudely and insulted at the branch and by Mark Mileti, their alleged "Market Leader", who replied to my complaint with more insults and rude behavior. Avoid this bank like the plague.

Not a good bank at all. They mess up too much with transactions and they are not customer service friendly at all. They closed my teenage daughters savings account for violating regulation d which states you can't do more than 6 savings transactions within a cycle or something. My teenage daughter had no idea when her cycle was and other banks usually just charge a fee for going over this limit but this bank apparently doesn't. I mean if they had charged her, she would definitely watch herself more and learn her lesson. And some banks are also nice enough to offer the savings to become a checking account if they see you're violating this. Plus during covid times, many banks stopped regulating this regulation d rule. But this bank, apparently doesn't care about a pandemic either. This bank doesn't care if its covid or not even that the government gave them their blessing to not follow this regulation d restriction. Then on top of that, if you want a paper statement, they charge you 10 dollars a month for it. If you want a copy of your check (if its not online) then they charge you for that too. This bank is very money focused and can care less about their customers.
Do not trust this bank! I have never in my life experienced anything like this, when you have a problem or question, list it stolen care etc. There is no phone customer service most hours of the day.
That is bad enough, however the hours they do have phone service, the hold times are 20, 30 and once over 40 minutes. At this moment the message said 10 to 20 minutes, though do offer to have someone call you back but with a bank like this I wouldn't trust it.
Their website goes down often and most times they don't update throughout the day.
Honestly, this scares me that a financial institution is this disreputable.
You're probably wondering why I continue to use such a poorly serviced bank, I have to for now because I get direct deposits into it which I cannot change right now but I do take the money out immediately each month to put into another bank I can trust.
So I have them on speaker as I'm waiting and I'm pretty sure I've been holding at least five minutes and once again the message inturrupted the music to say your wait time is 10 to 20 minutes again.
This bank is the worst, with only one teller available for simple transactions every time I visit. The staff is rude and very unprofessional. When I told the teller I wanted to see a manager, after the teller had been tied up with a customer for 20 minutes, she told me "Don't get loud with me!". When the Director of Finance arrived, she was even more rude than the teller! Never in my life have I ever had a business manager tell me, when I complained about the inefficiency and long wait times, "This is how we do things here. Maybe we are not the bank for you." In other words, take your business elsewhere. Who talks like this to a customer of the bank for over 40 years?
Sterling acquired the bank I had my Home Equity Loan with. It has been YEARS of unmitigated disaster after disaster. Worse bank I have EVER dealt with. Horrible service at EVERY turn. They botched porting my loan over when they acquired the original bank and erroneously reported me delinquent and ruined my credit score. RUN AWAY form this bank as fast as you can!
I can't rate them low enough. I had a clearly fraudulent charge on my account. They have NO fraud detection. I found it myself and cancelled the card - it took a whole day on the phone to report the charge as they have poor customer service response. That same day I called, they CHARGED ME the amount instead of issuing a credit. I needed that money. The local branch was unable to help me with this. The disputes department was unreachable. 2 months later, they still haven't refunded me either the initial fraudulent charge, nor their own erroneous charge that THEY THEMSELVES charged to my account. I have taken off 3 full days of work on the phone with them now being transferred to department after department and nobody can help me. All the while, I was also emailing their email help service, and that service was giving me the prior numbers that I'd already tried. Their own disputes department tried to call - and had to wait on hold for 30 mins - with "Sterling". Eventually we had to conference call with 3 different departments. As of now (5:30pm after calling at 10am this morning) they still haven't fixed it, though they assure me that I was supposed to have this money in my account for the past 2 months. NEVER USE THIS BANK EVER.
Horrible....will not work with you in any way from corporate level. Stay away. Go to a smaller bank who appreciates your business. this is not the place.

Sterling has been pretty darn good. They welcome me when I arrive and They are rated an A+ for safety. I also read they are conservative so they don't get involved in the Hanky panky that you hear about other banks with more popular names.
Poor!!!! I have been a customer for years and have the mobile app go to transfer money on this Thanksgiving day and they have deactivated my account seriously!!! Cant even get it fixed cause of the holiday so if i overdraft my account they will be reasonable for it...seriously this bank is not trustworthy
